Hmm, plastic brackets...not a big fan. My PitBoss is very similar to yours, possibly a few years newer and I've never encountered that problem. Maybe they realized it was a bit of a design flaw and changes were made. Who knows?! I would say the average user does much like the both of us and only cleans the fire box after a few cooks so something like this issue probably shouldn't happen regardless. It wouldn't serve PitBoss well to have an issue like this result in the pellet hopper going up in flames and possibly doing some damage to surrounding structures, ya think?! But...very ingenious repair. Like you said, some folks would push it out to the curb for a simple $13 repair. It seems to be a lost art these days...people repairing things, that is. You are so right. People don’t fix anything. All os disposable in the world sadly. Today i tried to get a new motor for our dishwasher. It is under warranty but they wont let me get the part, only will send it to a technician that i pay.
