He is saying he had a moment where he wanted to have revenge on the attacker and the guy happened to be black - which stood out back then. So he went looking for someone to give him an excuse to lash out. Then he woke up to it and was horrified by his own actions, thoughts etc. He is saying he isn’t racist but in that moment of anger he became racist, realised it and it scared him. So he found another way to vent that anger in a better, non-violent way. The fact is, it was a moment of madness driven by anger and he taps into that experience to portray someone who is acting out of anger in order to act it. As he says no one got hurt. If he was racist he would have gone and started a fight, not looked for someone else to trigger it. I think his brutal honesty is refreshing.

As a black person I'm pissed off. Not at what he said but the way that he was treated for speaking his truth. It doesn't matter what color you are you're human and somebody white injured a family member or somebody that I love I may have felt the same way and anyone who says that they wouldn't no matter what race is involved is lying through their teeth. There's so many people that feel like this that are probably condemning him because we live in such a politically correct world of liars that people will go out criticizing somebody for something that they live every single day. I'm not mad at him because it's a black person did something to someone in my family I will be out looking for somebody black too. And I'm a black person. America is so hypocritical assholes just because you shut somebody up because of the way that they feel doesn't make them a racist if he would have carried it out and if he did it just because it was a black person I could see where the anger comes from. But I have all the respect for him for being truthful and that's what we need more of in our world and maybe then we can actually have an honest conversation

While I applaud Liam neeson for this it’s important to remember that everybody thinks differently. If someone black raped someone close to me I’d absolutely despise that person but I wouldn’t hate everyone who’s black, despite understanding how that can be the case for some people because when you dislike something, you tend to dislike anything that remotely resembles it. For me though, I’ve taken to heart one part of Martin Luther king’s speech that I hold in very high regard: ‘I have a dream that one day people will be judged not by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.’ It’s something to keep near and dear to avoid making the mistake that neeson made. Props to him for owning up to it btw. As a fellow northern Irishman, I’m glad he’s a positive representation of our country which doesn’t have a lot of representation in the media. Not that I care about patriotism or any of that muck, but it’s a nice feeling.

Tbh not everyone things racially like that. I would, however, think in a more sexist way of like just men being gross af with no care to get their sexual fix. With my own multiple experiences my whole life from being a child to an adult and even in different countries n friends, I know race has nothing to do with it. I’m working on not feeling that way about all men n have made a lot of progress. But ya u can’t assume everyone thinks racially like that bc it’s just not true. Maybe majority but I personally can’t comprehend it.

you have a soul and you have a body. The soul is the qualities of your character. Your body is just physical matter. Each individual soul is judged. People are people. They aren't black people or white people. There is no such thing as a black person or a white person and there never has been. There's people. You cannot harbor hatred against someone for looking similar to someone you dislike. How can you possibly argue that that is in any way fair, just or right? It isn't. Mark Wahlberg, another highly prolific actor beat up his Vietnamese neighbors when he was young and growing up. He now has made up with them for what he did to them and they hold no grudges with each other. Liam Neeson simply admitted to being angry at one point in his life over something that happened to him. @Jane Don I've never wanted to enslave or do other horrible things to black people nor to any other race for that matter but you're saying it's a valid point for a black person to hate me or hurt me for something someone with the same skin colour as I, did to his ancestors... I mean I get where those feelings are coming from and I guess you'd have a lot of pain and hatred that you can't unleash on those people who actually did it to your family in the past so you channel your anger on the next best thing... again I get the feeling but it's still not righteous and highly immoral however harsh that may sound to the black community... we can't be held accountable for the things people to whom we might aren't even related to did to other people back in their time. That is past and we have to live the future and hold on to our obligation to never let something horrible like that ever happen again. That's how we should ALL honour the victims of slavery. It happened and we shall never stop remembering but it's bygone and more hatred and anger will lead to more pain... we have to learn from our history once and for all and stop slavery altogether. That mindset you're having will only lead to more atrocities, like it already happened in the past europeans, asians, christians, muslims, buddhists, indian, africans... they were all enslaved at some point in the past and they didn't learn shit of it, because we think hate, anger, racism and any other that leads to pain for some is acceptable if it comes from those who were victims.

Jane Don i mean... it’s also largely white people who acted to put an end to slavery within the government. Abraham Lincoln, William Wilberforce, these people actively played a huge part in bringing about an end to the slave trade. That’s the issue with generalising so broadly. Sure, there are a lot of white people who have and who still actively encourage racism and environments where racism can thrive, but there are also many white people who have dedicated their lives to stopping racism in any way they can. It’s a dangerous thing to just infer that ALL people of one race are inherently evil, and ALL people of another are inherently good, you just create an us vs them situation where nothing can ever be solved, you’re just feeding into a cycle of hatred that swings from one side to the other.
