Very nice and well thought out build, love the Aethos traditional shape. Since you asked I'll offer a cockpit change to save over 100g. Easton EC90 or E100 handlebar will weight between 205g and 178g for 42, your preferred 40cm would be even lighter and an Extralight 120mm Hyperstem is just 87g, while the Enve is 133g. That means you could save more than 134g! Then a Tune seatpost would net you another 50-100g saving before the Darimos become available.

Great to see a Garmin mounted on the stem, old school like. BUT, you've missed a trick: I've discovered that you can fix it to the stem with just one band, not two, saving even more weight! 😂🤣😂

Kalloy uno stem would save you almost 20g and save you money.

Great video Liam. There is probably 50g in the bar and stem, if you chose different. Rides of Japan uses an alloy stem that is lighter and I bought cheapy carbon bars that were under 200g.

Do you really need the drops? Cut them off? For race day, if you're just going up hill, do you need a front brake? Gravity is your real brake no?

Should have run 28mm on both wheels. If its good enough for optimizing TDF mountain stages its good enough for an amateur hill climbs.

Disc brakes seem not just redundant but totally counter productive. Spend thousands saving a few hundred grams in the frame only to pile on 500 grams extra for disc brakes that aren’t even going to get used. It’s not very, erm, logical!

@@veganpottertheveganwell, no, it would seem like a very odd choice if it was exclusively a hillclimb bike. My point is, you could build a sub 5kg hillclimb bike for a lot less money if you went with rim brakes (the rules say that you need brakes btw).
