Back in the Myspace days, Jeffree was about as big of a celebrity on that site as you could get. He used to sing songs about getting straight guys drunk and taking advantage of them. It was pretty much common knowledge. But Jeffree supposedly has a lot more than just nudes on people.

Oh yeah, I'm 30 and Myspace was around when I was in my teens. I've been on the internet since before 4chan was founded, back in the AOL Dial Up days. If you were a teen in the 10s- internet and popular culture was very, very different in the 00s, when Jeffree (and I) were growing up. And please note, I'm not a Jeffree stan, nor am I trying to excuse his disgusting behavior. It wasn't "trendy" to be racist. I'm white, but I had a very racially diverse and educated upbringing. It was trendy to be edgy and offensive, especially online- not racist. Most of the edge surrounded mental illness, substance abuse, and sexuality. Jeffree having a brand of lipsticks under the name Lipstick Nazi- you have to understand. The last skinhead/white nationalist uprising was in the 80s. The most conservative Republican was George W. Bush. The /pol/ board on 4chan didn't exist yet. The word "Nazi" was thrown around as slang for someone that takes things overly serious. I know the term "Grammar Nazi" was thrown around as recently as 2015. There weren't any real Nazis around for people to be offended by. I grew up in a weird fundamental Christian and Jewish household, so I don't fuck around with real Nazism. But... I would argue that the word Nazi was pop culture enough that it was absolutely not a dog whistle. Yes, race jokes were more acceptable when I was growing up. I never was one for making jokes like that, but I definitely laughed at them. To be fair, my POC friends laughed at them too- something they wouldn't do today. I definitely wasn't ignorant- I got into a fist fight with this terrible bitch at my school after I got into her e-mails and found pictures of her in blackface. Social change is good, although I would definitely make the argument that younger Millennials and Zoomers have very, very thin skin. Jeffree Star was definitely racist. I wish I had known, because I really liked him back in the day. He was part of my inspiration for getting into makeup. Is he racist now? I don't know. I have no idea what he's doing outside of social media. It would be nice if he has truly changed- but it's hard to believe anything that Jeffree says. But I don't think he should be called out for the Lipstick Nazi brand, or the self-harm images, ect. That Livejournal that he had? I know people that are famous today that had LiveJournals 10x worse. Hell, my LiveJournal was just as bad as his. It's hard to explain or describe to people who are under the age of 26 how much social culture has changed in 15-20 years. It's very much a good thing, but you can't hold people responsible for things that were socially acceptable back then.

@@selty in my case my rapist didn't even get to court. My assault was dismissed by the police due to the fact I was a 17 year old boy who had previous history with the police. If I am ever violated and assaulted like that again I don't think I would go and file a report again. I was mocked, made to feel like it was my own fault and faced passive aggressive homophobia. Even with the scrams down my back, bruises on my body, tears to my anus and his DNA inside of me. But no, I was a problem child who had been drinking in a club underage, and had previously been arrested for drugs, it was consensual sex that went to far in their opinion. It was forcible and traumatic rape. This was 2012 in the UK. I hope things have come along way since then, people need to be more empathetic, compassionate and believing.

9:18 honestly I feel like that is the reason Jelly Stinks's deluded cult is so protective of him, because a lot of homophobic people use the fact that he's gay instead of the terrible human being he is to hate on him. I'm in the emo scene personally but I dabble with scene music as well. I used to listen to BOTDF and other similar bands. Not one of my goth, scene, punk, or emo friends are racists or homophobic in any way. We all personally have gone to rallies and stood up for people of different races and sexualities. Even when Gabriel posted that picture of him, manny, laura and nikita on twitter and was like ‘bitch thinks we need him’ it was Gabriel who wrote that comment! Manny liked the photo, and I completely agree, when your scrolling you sometimes like a picture or a post without reading the caption, it happens. But Manny got most of the hate. Poor guy got dragged for minor things. But then Gabriel was rubbing shoulders with J* when it was him who made the caption. Doesn’t make sense to me. Just convinces me that everything is calculated and engineered by J*.

So I am in my forties and don't keep up on all the trends. I have heard of Jeffree Star and gave seen a few things over the years but nothing crazy. Just makeup stuff. I completely agree with this video from a non biased view. Very valid points and I love the breakdown.
