Found this review after coming across the Lancool III fan setup one. I have this case and wish I had found this video sooner. I basically came to the same results you did but I only had the 240 rad to play around with. I found that the bottom fans help but not enough for my build to bother as I too like having my card mounted in the vertical position and placing the veritcal mount in the raised position looks terrible to me. Yes it runs a degree or two hotter but after watching your Lancoool III review I wonder if I can offset that with a push/pull setup on my rad.

I am not a big fan of AIOs and I don't get what's the hype with them in recent years. Yeah, they look cool and are more swift with thermal performance but in edge to edge battle with an above average mid and high end air coolers, they are not that strikingly or shockingly impressive. Something tells me that if I slap Scythe Fuma 2 Rev. B along a Ryzen 5 5600X, thermals will be well within the acceptable performance (and then some) minus the daunting cost of a truly decent AIO but with the added bullet proof reliability and simplicity of an air cooler. I don't need to cash in into a huge ass Noctuas or Dark Rock 4 Pros. This AIO meta is getting a bit annoying and I wish more tech reviewers take not of the truly interesting Air coolers today. Most people don't slap high end CPU that is thermal hungry and heavy, hell even so - with a good case and a decent air cooler you can get good results cooling a high tier GPU and CPU

The extra noise with the tubes up only starts when air accumulates in the system, which could take a few years. As for the "suprsising" results, you get, most seem to be only by 1 degree which is probably within your error bars, so not significant.

Something I wish reviewers had mentioned about this case before I bought it is that the HDD caddies are badly designed. No noise-dampening at all on them; the SSD mounts have provided noise-dampening grommets (WHY?), but nothing for the spinners. As a result, they're going to be quite loud, I ended up just stacking my 3 HDDs, separated by some wrapped velcro.

I have a question for the 240mm front intake setup with an intake fan below it. Just for aesthetics, how hard would it be to get a fan that matches the other 2rgb above it? Would it be better (if you cannot find the same brand fan as a stand alone purchase) to just put a regular non RBG intake fan below the radiator and just have the 2 rgb radiator fans? Also great coverage on this case, doing my new build in it this week and those vids helped a ton, thanks.

@@brendanallen2468 The tubes going above the pump means air will collet at the top of the radiator. Does not matter too much at the start but with usage there will be more air in the system and over time it can shorten the life-span of the AIO or at least hurt its performance. GamersNexus has a video explaining this thoroughly by modding the radiator and the pump with see-through bits.

I'm thinking of getting the NZXT Kraken Z73 360 and I was wondering before watching this vid if it was possible to have the tube down (front-intake). The tube on that one is also 400 mm, like on the Galahad. Now I know that's too short and it will stretch too much and look awful. Tube up, it is..... Really glad you brought that up, thank you!

Hey Christopher, I have a question. What do you think when I don't buy any additional fans. Instead I use the fans which were included in the case. So I would have 2 intake fans and 1 outtake fan in the rear. Did you have any thermal testing with this setup and what is your overall opinion?
@Halenleavitt2 жыл бұрын
With the bottom gpu fans, what is the difference in thermals of them being intake vs exhaust. I see it is common to use them as intake, hot air rises, but wouldn't all the hot air blowing out from the gpu being assisted down and out the perforated bottom be better? That's how I have it set up, but I'll happily change if I'm doing it wrong. I am concerned if the two bottom fans blowing up into the gpu fans blowing down, wouldn't that create more of a thermal problem?

Best video out there. Just 1 minor thing i'd like to point out. My lancool 2 mesh is with a dark rock pro 4. What i found is that with air cooling you shouldn't use bottom intake fans. Since it introduces heat from the gpu into the towercooler. And a gpu doesn't thermal throttle in a high airflow case like this one, so no need for bottom intake. Still a front AIO would be best for this case but i mention it for people who aircool their cpu and like the case like i do.
