I bought the GTX280 launch week in 2008 from BFG (rip), completely over engineered cooler and SO many screws, that baby gets HOT. Got Lian Li's black aluminum case soon after that; watching this build takes me back!

Lian Li makes some incredible cases, Timmy. Their older discontinued models are worth a serious look for your channel. They do cost a lot though.

Those cards still have better back plates than most of today’s budget cards in my opinion!! Sweet build tbh I’m actually jealous of this! I owned a Q6600 build with a Radeon HD 3870 X2 in 2014 as a gift from my mother. I miss that pc and I’m glad to see another Q series build again! Keep it up!

Lian-Li makes the darnest cases. I bought what I thought was a standard HTPC case back for my server in 2010, and now that 2.5" HDDs are dominant I realized that I can cram a whopping 26 hard drives into that case. What a marvel of mechanical design!

lol actually in 2008 i was in grade 8 and the most hottest gpu news was zotax gtx 295. it had a whooping 1.7gb memory. I never thought time flies so fast ☺

@@johnwolves2705 unfortunately gtx 295 was january 2009, so dream build of 2008 is like his, he is right. GTX 280 SLI setup had similiar performance as gtx 295 anyway.

I remember that case; didn;t like it but admired Lian Li's balls... I had that motherboard, it was an "upgrade" for me over my older P5E-WS Pro board.... didn't really need it but wanted it anyway... ran with me for a very long time, can't remember what happened to it... THough at the time I was running a Q6600 at about 3.5Ghz with a Scythe Infinity and two Typhoon fans.... never really put much stock in Zalman, those flowerpot coolers never instilled much confidence in me.

I purchased a used one of these a few years back in perfect condition. I have it in my garage. I am still deciding what to do with it. I wanted ti turn it into a Multimedia audio station juke box. Maybe add internal speakers and LED lights. Load it with WnXP and have it controlled with my iPad using MS-Desktop manager. Right now I dont have anywhere to put it as it is really BIG.

I'm a bit late but still : I would love to see a modern build in this case. You know the "sleeper" style of build. This case looks amazingly old and I think it would be so cool to put like and RTX 2070 Super + R7 3700X (for exemple) in it just to see to final result !

Nice processor QX9770. It can be seen, that socket 775 platform was enough for games in 2008, and handled all graphic cards easily with reserve. Even GTX 280 SLI setup didn't usually stress CPU above 50%. Once overclocked it could be even better, that little thing can power up to GTX 1050ti performance, before it becomes bottleneck. That was nice reserve, up to Keplers GTX 670-680, the man could stand on socket 775 platform with overclocked Q9650 performance, then in 2013 it started to be bottleneck, but that was already time of Haswell i7-4770k and i5-4670k. The first graphic card, where CPU was bottleneck, was GTX 780 (if you dont count GTX 690 of course, as dual GPU card), so precisely said, first single GPU card, that was too fast for Q9650/Q9770, was GTX 780 and first Titan. Of course, from any card, it was GTX 690, that was too fast for this processor.

more like 10 years. the performance itself is still quite good but it lacks stuff like dx11 so not really suitable for modern gaming etc

I only use lian li both of my cases are Lian Li. One is a workstation case and my current one came from a system 76 prebuilt very nice cases, just love the aluminum

Nice, I have one of these Lian Li Snail cases, I think I will turn it into a Juke box, Put some speakers in it and PC hardware and have it controlled by my iPad using MS-Remote desktop app.

Это грандиозно, так в.... К сожалению, 775 сокет умер, процы лишены современных инструкций, большинство игр не запуститься. Есть спасение зеон, но там свои проблемы и тоже не все игры запускаются. А видеокарты 200х сотой серии и ниже так же на свалку, как я в свое время сменил gts250 на gts450, вроде ничем не отличаются, а без dirX 11 увы никуда. Автор молодец ❤️.

with an SSD and something like a 1660super you have yourself a pretty okay pc for older games and every day casual usage. i dont know if my parents would notice the difference between it and say a 9900k. i recently tried my old qx9650 with a 2060super and honestly... the experience really wasnt bad at all. web browsing with surprisingly Fast, youtube had no issues. i thought itd be a slow mess. boy was i wrong.. how much different the experience would have been back in the day if SSDs were available like they are today. i bet most casual users would still be using 2500k's if it wasnt for their old spinning platters that slowed the pc down to a halt.

Nicely done, that is one interesting case :D Should have used 3DMark Vantage Extreme for better SLI scaling. QX9770 at 3,2GHz isn't even close to be good enough for 3DMark 06.

This was random build, not final. Simply I wanted to put something inside. I could used better VGAs or xx other benchs like always :-) Final setup can be Rampage Extreme with pair GTX295 WC or someting like this. This need better PSU and other things. Or some AMD setup ... I don‘t know, will see
