Wow, I recently found you on KZbin and was really looking for more info on this because I just bought all these fans and it was still a bit confusing to me why I would use the USB headers on the mobo at all and not just use the SATA breakout. This video was PERFECT. Thank you!!

Great guide. I wish they'd come out with a Hydroshift LCD with three of these wireless TL fans on it. The version with the regular TL fans is around $250, and if you buy the version without any fans at all, it's $200, so if you want to buy the Hydroshift LCD with three wireless TL fans, it's around $300, a $50 premium. But it doesn't make sense to me to mix and match their fan tech. I wouldn't want to have three regular TL fans and 7 wireless ones for the rest of the build. I'd want to go all wireless or all wired. I'm also baffled that there are apparently no 140mm version of these. Do you happen to know if that's coming down the pipe? Do you know if L-Connect kind of saves configuration to device memory or something? With the fans plugged into the PWM headers on the motherboard, I'm sure that controlling the fans would work fine if you dual-booted into Linux or something, but the RGB and LCD screens, I'm guessing they would either rely on saved config if the fans / Hydroshift LCD have a bit of onboard memory, or more likely, they'd probably default to rainbow puke and either nothing or the Lian Li logo on the LCDs, but I haven't seen anyone talk about what happens if you aren't running Windows (and thus wouldn't be able to use L-Connect).

One question I still have is regarding installing the wireless hub inside the case. What is the purpose of the pwm header on the wireless dongle? Isn't it just getting USB power same as if it was plugged into a regular USB 2.0 port outside of the case? I suspect the PWM header is only if you want to sync PWM fan control and NOT use L-Connect. I assume I could bypass and not use the pwm header?

Great video PP! Come on Lian Li, where is the 140 reverse fans that most of your cases are built to accommodate?

I guess 120 is just more popular/in demand

Awesome vid - thanks! Can I ask a question Mr Prawn? I have basically this exact setup, but Im still building it. Before I have windows installed, I just want to POST test the PC etc. Would you recommend connecting the AIO (im using the Hydroshift fanless one with these TL fans installed) pump to the motherboard pump header and the fans to the CPU header for now? Later my plan is to have all the fans powered via the SATA connection you mentioned. I think the only thing I will leave connected to the motherboard will be the pump connected to the pump header.

Yes, keep the fans on the rad connected to the CPU fan header and the pump to AIO header. That'll be best. Stops the motherboard complaining and gives it control over the fan speed if necessary. Other fans could use the sata cable.

I have these “wireless” fans but also a 140 TL Uni fan that’s not wireless. Can I daisy chain it to the wireless or does this 140 have to have the old controller? Thanks
@TheProvokedPrawn2 сағат бұрын
You'd have to use the old controller I believe

Have you got the latest version of L Connect? Have you ensured the fan is connected to the usb header

the whole point of the fans is that they dont need the fan hub... i have 7 fan ports in my mb

@@Shoto_999sounds like the TL is a bit better than- they have stronger fans then the SL it seems - SL looks like bigger rgb or more I guess on the fan case itself
