Jim Carrey is a rare gem. A man who broke into the comedy scene with remarkable physical gifts, but had the range to do so much more. Truman Show tested him, Eternal Sunshine ensured he’s no fluke, and Man on the Moon locked down his lifetime achievement Oscar. It’s a crime he hasn’t been even nominated.

"He knocked over another ATM. This time at knifepoint. He needs your legal advice." "Stop breaking the law, asshole!" Fun Fact: Jim Carrey was paid $20 Million for this film. Automobile Enthusiast Fact: Fletcher's (Jim Carrey) car is a 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 [R129]. Law Enthusiast Fact: Some fans pointed out that Mrs. Cole (Jennifer Tilly) isn't sworn in here but Tom Shadyac said they just cut it out to help speed the movie up. Authentic Battle Scares Fact: When Fletcher beats himself up in the restroom, no sound effects were used; those are really the sounds of Jim Carrey's head slamming into the urinal, floor, and walls. Objection Fact: As Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) is leaving the court building at the beginning of the film, he is asked "Hey Fletcher! How did it go in there?" by the real-life Chris Darden, the lawyer that prosecuted O.J. Simpson.

As a mom, I can't tell you how heart breaking it is for a child to feel this way. My ex husband would make promises to his daughter & then break them, to the point that one day she asked me, & I quote "what is wrong with me that my dad always breaks his promises to me". When I say that I have never felt such a combination of rage & heartache at the same time, I'm not even kidding. It was a good thing he was far away at that moment, because I think both myself & my husband (the man that ended up raising my daughter) would have ended up in jail for murder or assault.

It's a great movie, but it is hard to believe that 80% of it takes place within the same 24 hours. Also, if the marriage was never legally binding, how can Mrs Cole have any entitlement to marital assets?

27:51 I like how he had to say "figuratively speaking," because otherwise it would've been a lie. lol

On the whole kid needing someone at basketball games; that's a pretty noble thing to do and it made me give a fuck for a moment. You have found a fuck I had not known I had left so *throw's fuck* it's yours now.

You a good dude for going to your ex's kids games, I bet that meant a hell of a lot for him. Shame your new girl couldn't see how it was rooted in kindness.

There's one glaring flaw with this movie. The wish was that he "couldn't tell a lie." Not that he had to tell the truth whenever asked a question. He should be able to just not say anything or bend the truth using vague language.

44:57 comment he only sees events in front of him which is how that character plays so well the moment. He does not see he's A bad dad because away, he loves. His son whole heartedly. When there the boy is a focus. He tries to be with his son and prefers it but has to play the people around him and concentrate on the moment so when someone drops stuff or brings it to him all drops and he shifts focus. He's never bad to his son he always loves him so short attention span he never has long enough moments of being bad except when he sees disappointment. But he then shifts to make him feel better and does not acknowledge that he did not come through such that it caused the disappointment. Perhaps some-such , some might say.-Ernie Moore Jr.
