He's known for his candelabra and charisma, his diamonds and his dazzle, and of course, his beautiful music. He's LIBERACE and he's performing live with The London Philharmonic Orchestra at London's Wembley Centre in a royal night to remember. Join Liberace, "Mr. Showmanship" for a magnificent show complete with flickering candelabra, more than a million dollars in furs and sparkling jewels and the music that has made him famous from classical to contemporary from Strauss to Sondheim. Featuring the musical standards "I'll De Seeing You" and " You Made Me Love You," as well as a medley of popular favourites such as "New York, New York," "Memories" and "Send In the Clowns." "Liberace Live" is Liberace at his best, bringing you entertainment with style and flair as only Liberace can! Transferred directly from the original 1" colour broadcast videotape to digital, it is released in association with the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts.

He died in 1987 still missed by a lot people. He was a brilliant pianist. He brought glamour and entertainment to us all. He loved his fans and they loved him. No music, fingers that played music for us all to love and listen too forever. He was in show business for such a long time, not many entertainers can say that nowdays. The Liberace show was the first tv program I saw when we bought our first set in Columbus Ohio in the early 50’s. His daily 15 minute show came on while my Mom did her housework. His theme song “I’ll be seeing you” still resounds in my memory. A couple of yrs later when I started piano lessons, his mastery of the piano became my goal.

Liberace one of the best entertainers the 20th century ever produced. Many have said nonsense and evil things about the man and his music, but he laughed all the way to the bank. For my parents 25th we took them to the Latin Casino in NJ (show lounge not a casino), and we were able to get seats up front for them. Well Mr L, took the show off as usual and half way into it, asked he was celebrating a 25th anniversary and thankfully it was just my mom and dad.... Then he played the 2 songs they always loved to hear....the Anniversary song and Ave Maria. Well it was a packed house and mom and dad danced in front of the stage. Not a dry in the house when Mr L finished Ave Maria. Even he had tears in his eyes... Whenever I had a chance to see him live I gladly paid the $$$ to hear him. RIP Liberace you brought so much joy to so many and continue to do..... Pax+

This was 1983, sadly only four years before his death, and he still had it at age 63! For those casting aspersions on his pianistic skill, he was a child prodigy when he started learning at age four, and was a world-class concert pianist before developing his natural flair for showmanship and becoming the greatest entertainer in the world. The one word for Liberace that comes to mind is....unique. --- in the truest sense of the word.

Such a gentle and kind human being. So very dedicated to his music. He grew up on the south side of Milwaukee and was made fun of by his classmates because he and his brother George would do nothing but practice when they were out of school. Such incredible talent unleashed in the depths of devotion and focus proves that there is always the source of all things guiding us and in us. I care not for what has been said about his sexuality, he has been so underrated as a musician, this video proves otherwise. What is sad is that we've lost him, a rare talent with fourish and personality. It is such a pity his home has fallen into disrepair, I'm not saying it should be a shrine, but a place of respect refurbished and restored, somewhere his admirers can feel close and part of what and who he was.
@mattropolis99
@mattropolis99 2 ай бұрын
Lets be honest. His musicianship is...just competent. Nobody collects Liberace records - he regularly makes little mistakes and his phrasing is not always the best. He picks easy, popular tunes. He knew from the get-go that radio was not the media outlet for him. The average concert pianist is better than him most days. What he did have is showmanship and a personal connection to his audience. He seemed to be a wonderful and generous person too. He was the 3 chords and an attitude version of piano - and as he said - he laughed all the way to the bank despite the critics. The London Philharmonic behind him likely was full of better musicians, but he made more and was better know than all of them.

In 1979 or there abouts my daughter was home on break from college and worked partime in a neighbohood restrauant when the owner called asking her to come in and help cook for a traveling celebrity's private luncheom. The owner also said that she was closing the restraunt except for a few invited guest and asked for me to come as well and help Liberace and his friends have a nice time. I want to report that he is/was a wonderful man! He was healthy looking, tanned, and dressed in newly ironed Jeans and knit top really nice hair cut and well groomed and he had three handsome young men with him as his aunertage . They came in so happy and smilling and greeted me, I was sitting next to his table and he went into the kitchen and joked and thanked with the help. He asked for a home made meal and desert. They did not have desert, my daughter piked up and said my brother is home from medical school and he can quickly make a German cake for you and Liberace was thrilled. He gave the lead cook, an older lady, a free fully paid trip, fullly compted trip with money to play with, for a Las Legas three day vacation for two. I was so impressed with his generosity and good of heart. He had a love for older people. A person could not help but enjoy and speak hightly of him and his friends. We all enjoy his music. Hope my story is interesting for you. Cheers and happy days for you all.~~~

In February 1971, when I was 13 years old, I was lucky enough to be in the audience to see Liberace at the London Palladium, along with my parents. My mum (who died in 1974) had been a Liberace fan since the early years, watching him on TV, and it was a huge thrill for her to be able to see him in person here in England. Her only disappointment was that he never played "Clair de Lune" in that concert. So when at 13:13 Lee introduced that very piece, it gave me goosebumps.

When I was in Vegas many years ago and went on a bus tour around the town, when we passed by his house, the bus driver told us that when tours came by his house; and he was home, he would stop the bus and come out and get on and say hi to everyone and shake hands and give autographs. I heard similar stories from his family and friends. I used to stay in his Palm Springs home whenever I visited the States in the early 90s. I was told whenever he was in residence at Palm Springs, he would prepare and serve meals at the local church across from where he lived on W. Alejo, for the less privileged who would gather each week to receive handouts of food. When he toured Australia in 1973, he was giving a press conference at Sydney Airport. During his interview, he noticed a mother in the distance trying to comfort her crying child. Liberace stopped the interview and approached the child, knelt down beside her, and brushed away her tears.

as one gets older life slows down and theres so much more time to appreciate the talent of this man ,he is indeed the master of the piano and also of the interpretation he applies to hes music, a great and beautiful talent of which, im sure , there is no equal,and its such a crying shame that hes no longer with us ,but the technology allows us to still appreciate this beautiful mans talents along with hes personality which to me , was magnetic, he really is so sadly missed ,

THIS is a PHENOMENAL video! What a showman and musician! Out of curiosity, I played this video last night and was absolutely AMAZED by this man. Sure, for those like me not used to Liberace, it took me a minute or two to get over his effeminate and flamboyant mannerisms and costumes. But beyond that, I WAS ALL IN, absolutely floored by what I saw and heard to the very end. And this is coming from someone with a wide variety of musical tastes, from classical, to blues, to jazz, to rock, to metal, to country, to electronic music - whatever! What was just as remarkable as his incredible level of skill on the piano was how he connected to the orchestra and ESPECIALLY the audience - his adoring fans. For an entertainer to take his audience in, in such a way as though they were guests in the living room of his home, is extremely rare and touching, at least to me. I have never seen an entertainer adore his audience just as much as they, in turn, adored him. Gracious, humble, pleasant, self-effacing, humorous, classy, a gentleman - you name it - I cannot get in enough adjectives to describe the genius and humanity that was Liberace (at least as an entertainer - I know nothing about THE MAN, personally). Based on what I saw and know, I would place Liberace wayyyyyy up there in the top five, as far as one's impact on music and pop culture the world over during the 20th century. Like they say, I cannot imagine that there will ever be another one quite like him. LL

I still get goose bumps when he plays. An artist like no other who could, by his music have almost everyone loving Classical Music by the time he was through and the ones who were so ultra prim and proper and on the snobbish side would be clapping along with others when he added his humorous side to the mix. He truly was one of a kind and there will never be his equal, or better. RIP Lee, you are sorely missed.

During the early 90s, whenever I would visit the States, I would stay at Liberace's Palm Springs home as a guest of his remaining family and friends. They became second family to me. I have never experienced such unconditional love as what they afforded me. It's perhaps difficult for people who are discovering Liberace for the first time to fully comprehend the enormous impact he had on the world of entertainment; that even the likes of celebrities such as Lady Gaga today owe him an enormous debt of gratitude for having paved the way. To this, he was always obliging the media of their every request, there was never any displays of temperament coming from him. He was always a gentleman. Blessings, and thanks for the message :)

Love Liberace, I recall watching & listening daily. Black & White television. I was a child maybe all of 8 yrs of age. So inspired. I asked to take Piano Lessons! I had one concert. (smile) A solo..yes! I bowed like the real Liberace! One arm in front of pretty dress at my wrist,, the other behind me.. then, vice-versa, properly. Honorably No No I was to put one foot behind the other & extend my dress (sp)kersey, like a girl. Everyone giggled. I was so proud, that day to be a little piano player like the Famous Mr. Liberance (smile) The gigles didn't matter. I loved him then & love him now. His inspiration gave me gildance in my life. Besides being real fashion icon, he sparkle as a decent human being. Farewell Mr Liberace, master of the Stage, & Sound, capture of hearts young & old. Cya later

As a professional pianist, I can say this: Not only was Lee a superior pianist, but the inner depth of his heart went into every note he played. His phrasing, dynamic contrasts, his feeling for the depths of the music itself were felt with every note he played. Not only could one feel the tremendous musicianship he offered, but his very heart and soul were on display with every performance, whether it be classical or more popular tunes of the eras. Truly a genius musically, a child prodigy and a joy to experience, whether it be live or here, on youtube, where one can see and hear his beautiful performances over the years. He rests in peace now for many years, but his music lives on.

Muscle memory is more of an amateur thing I believe. Professionals actually memorise the piece and can stop and start at any point. Amateurs more likely to 'lose their way' if concentration falters and have no actual memory of the notes.

Not even a top 100 piano player. And I'm not saying he wasn't gifted but if you could have seen Beethoven, Amadeus, Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, ect. Absolute geniuses who took real risks with their music. Liberace would be the first to tell you he wasn't the best piano player but more of a pop star who dazzled with easy melodies.
