Although my family belongs from a background that hasn’t supported bjp and I myself consider myself centre leaning left, it’s really good that bjp won because it proves that mainland India is finally thinking of northeast as a part of a legitimate part of the country and it will further spread progress and more consideration in our state from the mainland. I hope bjp continues to help manipur and various northeast communities assimilate more with the mainland. And I hope bjp will help the native northeast culture preserve itself because I know I am a Christian and I am wrong for saying it but western influence and conversion Christianity is so normalised that we have lost our touch with our own culture and I hope bjp helps in people feeling more pride for our country and our culture/nationalism in there as well because we have always been treated foreign and thus, we ourselves have become kind of foreign. (Edit : it’s also a breath of fresh air because all the political parties in Manipur were getting lazy because they thought their places were safe, now that bjp have won, there will be a healthy competition in serving the people once again which is always welcomed for a democratic country.)
