Amazing rendition of this piece! 5 years ago I played this piece for Bocal Majority camp on the high bassoon part because I was the only one who could read in tenor clef haha. Very beautiful tone, y'all sounded outstanding!

I love this piece too-check it out for sax quartet and a capella voice! And, of course, the original video of Piazzolla playing it

Russ Houghton yes, I've listened to both of those as well! This piece really does lend itself to a wide range of ensembles.

Well, in terms of bassoon playing weak is a compliment as well, it is very hard to keep proper intonation while blowing softly (the pitch gets sharper due to the prevalence of upper overtones).

@@Pawel_Malecki Well I don't know if "weakly" is how I would like my playing to be described personally... 😂 Although I do understand the difficulty of playing softly. I just think "soft" and "weak" are different and shouldn't be equated. Sometimes I also find it difficult to play loud (especially on sensitive notes) without cracking. Cheers

The composer Piazzolla's personal instrument was a bandoneon which is a type of concertina. Libertango is probably his most often played piece and has been arranged for just about everything. The Canadian Brass has done it along with some of his other pieces - all wonderful. And Doc Severinsen played it as part of the San Miguel 5. It's worth seeking out other pieces by Piazzolla.

Where could I find the sheet music for this?
@treblemkr2478 жыл бұрын
Did anyone figure out if this version was a piece they arranged or if it was something available to the public?
@bassoonguru10807 жыл бұрын
We just played the same thing literally but with no contrabassoon. But that's because we only had 4 people. So it's available.

Bassoon Guru where did you find the sheet music? I’ve been wanting to play this with some other bassoons but I cant find it anywhere.
