It really puts into crisis how tiny Liberty City actually was... and it felt like a massive world to me back in the day...
@frizzyrascal1493 Жыл бұрын
To me, it still has the best city grid layout next to GTA IV, there was verticality, which was nearly extinct from Vice City (due to the game being released 8 months after III), especially Staunton Island was a revelation in terms of scope and grandness. Shoreside Vale could've been bigger and more connected, especially Wichita Gardens feels disconnected (maybe on purpose, as it is pure ghetto).
@K3rhos Жыл бұрын
It's not that tiny honestly, I recently replayed GTA 3 and I can say it feels big, bigger than Vice City, and yeah Vice City is bigger in reality (9.11km²) against 8.12km² for GTA 3 LC, but it feels way more bigger because of the disposition of the 3 islands, only 1 bridge force you to make more travel in cars, since there is no helicopter and planes, GTA 3 LC is a really nice map for it's time. I really like Vice City & San Andreas, they are really great game, but GTA 3 Liberty City has something special, just like GTA 4 LC ! Maybe that's because I like more the dark atmosphere than the flashy look of Florida/California, it's adding something to a story about crime to be in a dark gray city I think.

You have just managed to recreate something that I personally had been struggling to since 2013 with the Sim City 4 (and its DLCs), which of course was never possible due to the limitations. Never tried City Skylines myself, but I'll go on and say this looks more than just impressive! Brings lots of nostalgia as well, since GTA III wasn't just another GTA title to me. In my eyes it always held a special place and it managed to stand out from every other game of the franchise for being so over the top goofy on every aspect, from the voices of the npcs to the proportions of each character that made everything look as it had been taken out of the Mickey Mistery comics. GTA still manages to be a parody, although it has also received a more serious and realistic tone which is great for the times you want to go realistic or appreciate the graphics, but it has thrown away the comic book sillyness and naiveness it once used to have and I would love to see them make a title that will bring back that part in the future (maybe not gta vi since IF they're working on it, I bet they' ve already gone for another art style, but maybe on vii or a spin-off for another console they could try and ditch realistic graphics in favour of a more comicey looking game - maybe keep the physics they've worked so hard to turn into what they look like today too, but definitely not pay much attention to making the game's graphics look as if it's a movie but an anime/cartoon instead)
