Awesome. I order all my CRD stuff from you! Going to do trans service this weekend, she's got 209K on her! :-)

Who thought it would be a good idea to do a trans pan without a drain plug??? I'd be tempted to use a fluid extractor down the dipstick tube to reduce the mess. Your old fluid still looked great. More than can be said for the 140k mile fluid that came out of our V10 Touareg. "Filled for life"... sure... On the CRD can you fill in all the fluid with the motor off? When I tried to do this on my W126 I ran into issues.

***** A drain plug would have been nice! I was able to fill the fluid with the motor off, but then checked it again once I'd added fluid to get a better reading (it had gone down a bit).

I did see a gentleman with this same transmission in his gas powered liberty and did just what you’re talking about, used an extractor to remove transmission fluid before changing the filters. I believe the same person also extracted some fluid and topped off with fresh fluid once a year in between transmission services.

Do you have to wait for the gasket to dry before starting the engine to check the fluid level?

Did you prime both filters full of Trans fluid before you installed them or did you just install them empty?
