Great channel Dave, just joined up. Loving the northern honesty and banter. 😊 I’ve just ordered the track to start a layout, my last one disappeared in 1987 when I left home, so a long wait! Talking about speakers, I'm waiting to see someone try to run a DC line through a DDC sound chip, using a PC speaker, it would be a cheap way for sound on all of someone DC diesel loco's, and you would probably get a bribe to take it down. But you would have to use a FF fuse rated under the maximum amperage to protect the chip. FF means extra quick.

Hi, great review of the best class 37’s on the market, I have 2x Bachmann & 2x Accurascale class 37’s which are all excellent models, I returned to the hobby just over 2 years ago, I totally agree with your assessment of Hornby HST packs I have 2x the 8 pin models and 2x the 21 pin models which are not that great, the motorised fans are not fit for purpose because they are underdeveloped and poor quality! 90% of Railroad items are ex Lima models because Hornby love dipping into the past to drag out models and then sell them as newly tooled, I steer clear of Hornby locomotives these days as the older models are much better. Accurascale are a great company whom tend to look after their models if there is an issue, I can vouch for that, Hornby have extremely poor customer services in my opinion, I don’t mind their coaches when they pop up in flash sales as they are quite good, Bachmann coaches are better but carry a hefty price tag, I hope and prey another manufacturer starts to produce the HST class 43 very soon so we whom like the model can get a model worth the money and not a wish wash make over effort from Hornby. I like the motorised roof fans in the Bachmann class 37 but they haven’t got a model in the livery I want, hopefully a re-release of the Network Rail yellow livery or the silver livery Europhoenix model or even the red livery DB Schenker newly tooled model, I would buy all three of them no questions asked, until then I will wait and hope Bachmann won’t miss the open goal in front of them, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking the time for that comment pal, good to know some people are along the same thought process and opinion 👍 once the timing belt service and holiday are paid for I’ll get some more big purchases made 👍 in the meantime just bits and bobs will be appearing. I could literally throw thousands at rolling stock along if I had deeper pockets!
@StormmyStormmy9 ай бұрын
@@doubleodave Hi, I know what you mean about spending some money on rolling stock, thing is the prices are too high for me at the moment, I have a whole house to decorate amongst other things that require attention in the house, I do look forward to the sale’s because you can pick up some bargains, going to model railway exhibitions has lost its appeal because of greedy sellers overcharging for secondhand items just like eBay, every now and then you come across some gems you have to purchase, Bachmann JJA wagon secondhand prices are insane because Bachmann released a new collectors line, I’m so happy I didn’t overpay for the ones I have, good luck with you future purchases mate.

Nice one Dave. The Bachmann vs Accurascale. I'm frim.The days when you had the old Hornby model that to improve you either had to track down kitmaster deltic kts for the bogies or chop up Lima deltics & rework the 37 to suit.Lima 37 in 1986 was the marvel of the age & until 2000 the best. Brought in a pair of Bachmanns first gen models / 4 axle drive - dubious bodyshape, & they where good for their money. The VI-trains reincarnation of the Lima model with the can motor drive is still a force to be reckoned with.To me the Italians had the knack with 00 of producing well made / well designed - engineered gear in a,way that nobody else in 00 has ever got near. The new offerings may well come with a myriad of nice details etc, but the desire to dazzle soon loses its sheen when things fall off / derailments & mechanical failures. My last class 37 purchase was a Lima one, £40 no frills ,good old fashioned railway modelling, no trepidation of getting it out of the box, bits falling of ,or is it going to go over the pointwork / struggle on bends - derail. What it lacks in detail it makes up in reliability , sheer rugged engineering. At the moment the notion to cram as much on stuff models as possible is creating a whole pandoras box & in the pursuit of perfection it's starting to leave customers disillusioned that the dream model they've been sold struggles with basic issues. I've seen enough with some of it over the years to convince me that maybe the old basic models have it right. Maybe it's not Bachmann or Accurascale that produce the best 37 but the VI-Trains one.
@doubleodave7 ай бұрын
I’d certainly take a model without all the fancy details, although I do love how these “premium models” run

I think for the price of these models now a days, they should be using proper glass for the cab windows, as to me, they still look like a 1970's Hornby.
@doubleodave9 ай бұрын
To be fair mate was a silly comment about the glass as I haven’t even seen that fancy glass so it could be next level 👍 fair point
@PeckhamHall9 ай бұрын
@doubleodave basically the glass is injection moulded acrylic or crystal polystyrene and thus not to scale which is o.k but not when the wall thickness is not uniformed, but you are probably right it probably does seem stupid, but having been in the moulding industry for nearly 30 years I am probably just nit picking on the sink marks and the engineering behind some of the lens used in models, they could do better if they put there minds to it. But if they used 0.2mm glass like what glass slides are made from, what are used for look at stuff under a micro scope for the cab windows, that to me would be the best, as it would make to hole locomotive pop.

9:10 first sighting 😊, have an accurascale 37 and have the same sandpipe problem also it derails on one point set where nothing else has before...it has been back to accurascale for another issue... But overall I have not been wowed with it but have another on order from second batch so I hope it's just an issue with the one I have... Last one on a Friday night I think..... Yorkshire comment made me laugh because the comment is right😮. I did say something similar on another video... And don't worry Dave I am also a Yorkshire chap. Keep up the witty videos makes a change from the doom and gloom of other KZbinrs.

OooooH 37's!! All is now good. Thanks Dave.. Now I cannot say about the Accurascale, as I am still awaiting mine to arrive, last batch and now delayed till June I think. But The Bachmann has me driven demented. derails on 3rd radius, sound is sooooooo low. I have it turned up to max, and if I run any other engine with it, it just disappears. all my others are just plain DC. Lima, Hornby. Now It wasn't me that gave that comment, But I can tell you It sounds so familiar, My passed father who was from sheffield(like) always said.. A yorkshireman is like a scot, but with all the goodness squeesed out. Now you know where I got mine from.. WE were sooooooo poor... Ooooh you Lucky!! ...... lol. My red stripe is quieter to be fair I forgot to point that out, but generally I only put the sound on when filming them or the odd blast now and again, usually I have them running sound off if I’m pottering up there. Have you gone for the sound fitted accurascale or are you dc? I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Do yourself a favour though and keep weathering powder away from the wheels like!! 😁👍👍

Nice comparison between the two 37s Dave…. I can’t comment about the new Bachmann models as I’ve only got a couple of the previous versions in DRS livery, the newer versions do look bang on. As for Accurascale well there’s about 5 knocking around on the layout at the moment, with another Colas version on pre-order, so it’s fair to say I quite like them👍 Good to see you have upped layout security, we’ve had quite a bit of trouble round here with “tagging” on some of the rolling stock, pity you sent him off for a brew early though. Anyway I’m off to paint some more spots on my dog….. Cheers all the best Dave John b😎

Hi Dave -Totally agree that I would be happy not to have the detail you cannot see at normal viewing distance for a loco that can take being handled and can run on less than perfectly laid track. A question, is Security Man ex special forces he has a certain air about him ? Interesting to see the guys in coal miner gear , We have a few of the old Kent Miners who still cant get over the Kent coal fields closing even though its over 40 years ago.They still put their work gear on and head off to work that does not exist - Quite sad really. Cheers Kev

Thanks for the comment Kev 👍 I’ll have to ask him when he’s back in. Yeah the coal miners I remember seeing blokes wearing coats like that when I was a kid, think a few of the bin men wore them too if I remember correctly.
