@@charley_warlzz I agree that we shouldn't be bothered about identity because it doesn't matter what sexuality you are but, for the sake of accuracy, Jack and Dean are both straight irl and in the show. This plotline was about him wanting to impress the coolest guy in his school. Also, for the sake of decency, you shouldn't be assuming this person who corrected people is a homophobe, save hate for real homophobes. The only reason I think that this clarification matters is for cases like star wars where everyone shipped fin and that pilot. I personally believe they intended for them to be gay and took a wusses way out by not making them get together and instead putting in an easily editted out lesbian kiss for homophobic chinese audiences, but their reasoning for taking it out is valid and I kind of agree with, you need to be able to show straight male friendships in movies to stop the stereotype that men need to keep emotions private unless they're gay. I dislike that people have to be forced imto boxes by the fans instead of having plutonic relationships where they're allowed to love without being mislabelled as physically loving their friends. In storys and irl this is important. Anyway, thats my whole thought process, in summary, not everyone is homophobic, not everyone is gay, being labelled wrong can be bad for mental health and damaging to friendships and prevent people from being open about feelings, it still would be nice to have more gay representation in largr franchises instead of making a cowards move just so your millions of dollars are slightly less when in the long run a progressive controversial star wars movie would probably make more money but what do I know? James Ramplin I agree that we shouldn’t label people, but I’m not just assuming he’s a homophobe. He has equally and sometimes more defensive comments along no the lines of ‘they’re totally not grey and could never be gay okay’ in the replies of a bunch of other comments, when there’s really no need for him to be so defensive over what’s essentially a teasing joke. They’re never stated to be straight in the show, so it’s fair to assume they might be playing bi characters, and even if they’re not (and I have no strong feelings either way), it’s still just a joke, and the defensiveness is a little much. Also, I never said he was a homophobe. I asked why he was so adamant that no one should imply they’re anything but straight. That’s still a valid question.
