Space Marines Librarians are a important aspect to several Space Marines Chapters that are absolutely needed within the Imperium. Not only do they provide firepower by their psyker powers, but also record their chapter history and deeds, and without the Librarians many chapters would fallen prey to both Chaos manipulation and being forgotten by the rest of the Imperium records.

His Chapter’s own Stormseers, of course, who revelled in shamanistic rituals and totems, creating a mystery of it all, and then many Librarians from other Chapters. Blood Angels. Space Wolves. The strangest had been the Black Dragon Epistolary named Ulgon. He had bony protrusions on his skull and arms that he used in combat, and he had kept himself very much to himself, and the rest of them had been happy about that. Ulgon’s Chapter had called him back. Nergui doubted he’d have lasted much longer. You could tell the brothers who were destined for death. There was a Lamenters Librarian who had dreamt that he was destined to die on Terra. He had joked about it for a while, but when they were given the mission to clear the drifting hulk named Heart of Terra, he had gone silent, and they knew he’d understood. He had held the genestealers back as the rest of his kill team withdrew to a defensible position. It was a good death. It helped, Nergui thought, when you knew it was coming. But Domitian, the former Imperial Fist, was almost normal, at times, Nergui thought. You could almost forget that he wielded such power. But he had the odd habit of entering your mind too much, too invasively, as if he forgot that others did not have his abilities...' - Watch-Captain Nergui[Of the Chaoge] seconded from the White Scars Chapter 'The leading Space Marine stopped short of the eldar committee, standing with its feet set solidly apart and its head held confidently, just at the point where the bridge met the main jetty. It was fractionally too far away from the eldar for them to deliver their carefully rehearsed greetings, and Dhrykna could detect a slight irritation flickering through the minds of her comrades. They suspected that the Space Marine was slighting them deliberately. It was the kind of subtlety that they had not expected from the mon-keigh. As it stood motionless, five other black-clad Space Marines strode up behind it, taking up a formation that resembled a bristling armoured wall. They were a motley assortment of shapes, but each of them looked powerful and solid in a way quite alien to the eldar. One of them appeared to have some kind of jump pack fused to its back. Another bore a bizarre and grotesque mask that distorted its helmet into a vision of horror. One was at the centre of a series of twitching mechanical arms that seemed integrated into its armour. But, standing before the eldar, each one of the mon-keigh warriors in their power armour appeared formidably solid and massive, dwarfing the delicate and slender sons of Asuryan. The Space Marines did not advance; they showed no sign of trying to interact at all. The minds of the eldar shifted uneasily, although their bodies betrayed nothing of their irritation. As they gazed in silence at the mon-keigh that had been permitted to tread the sacred wraithbone of Calmainoc’s dock, the eldar began to see something unexpected in amongst the aliens. Even Dhrykna could see the disciplined and controlled psychic halo that emanated from one of the Space Marines behind the leader. She had heard that not all the mon-keigh were equally psychically stunted, but it had never even occurred to her that those with the power would serve those without. It seemed incredible to her, and her mind rebelled against the unreason of it. Even as she watched, another thump on the bridge made her snap her attention back towards the Lance of Darkness, where a seventh mon-keigh warrior rose slowly to his feet. The Space Marine that strode up the causeway was ablaze with psychic energy. It just poured out of him, as though it ran through his veins and eased out of the pores in his skin. It was the only one of the aliens that did not hide its face behind the armoured panels of a helmet. Instead, a heavy hood shaded the features of its face, and a long cloak plumed out behind it as it walked. For a moment, Dhrykna wondered how the rest of the mon-keigh could live knowing that superior specimens like this existed in their midst. The blind fools could not even see the brilliance in its soul. Its light was invisible to them. The last Space Marine was certainly no eldar, but it emanated a rare power that even the eldar would have to acknowledge, although it flickered with a barely contained radiance. It was of a completely different nature from the tightly controlled halo of the first mon-keigh psyker. Dhrykna had not expected to encounter such a presence, and she wondered whether the Seer Council had foreseen the involvement of two mon-keigh psykers in the heart of Ulthwé...' - Deathwatch Kill Team 'Octavius' arrives at Ulthwé. ‘Your time as a battle-brother of the Ultramarines is at an end.’ Chief Librarian Tigurius’ voice echoed through the vaulted stone chamber of the Librarium. He walked around Acolyte Loraeus, who turned to keep his new master in sight. He started slightly at the sight of his own shoulder plate, no longer in the vibrant hue of the Chapter, but now the lighter, more vivid electric blue of the Librarius, glowing in the light that streamed through the great glass dome that topped the chamber. ‘No longer will you go to battle as part of a squad, relying on the bonds of brotherhood to protect you as much as on your armour.’ Tigurius stopped pacing and swung up his rune-marked staff, tapping the horned skull that adorned it against Loraeus’ chestplate. ‘From this day, you will stand alone. And when next you walk a battlefield, it will be as a Librarian.’ The Chief Librarian paused, his back to the acolyte. There had been no signs that Loraeus was a latent psyker until very recently, when his powers had erupted under the stress of battle in a sheet of flame that had devastated a squad of greenskinned xenos. None of his brother Scouts had been harmed by the inadvertent inferno, but Loraeus had felt their suspicions about him straight away. ‘Your power comes from the warp, young brother, from the wellspring of immaterial energy that men call Chaos. And over time, you will learn to harness that energy and use it for the good of the Chapter and the Imperium. You will learn to channel your power through different disciplines, to divine the future, manipulate matter with your mind, wield the power of flame as your weapon - and more.’ Again, Tigurius paused, this time facing Loraeus. His eyes flickered with energy, and the young Librarian wondered if his master was using his own prodigious power to look inside his mind. As he thought this, Tigurius smiled grimly. ‘Perhaps I am,’ he said, ‘or maybe I just know how new acolytes think. Do you have any questions, brother? Any other questions, that is.’ Loraeus hesitated for a moment before asking what had been preying upon his mind since his power had manifested. ‘The Chaplains tell us that psychic power is to be feared and reviled,’ he began, his eyes locked on Tigurius. ‘That all psykers are a danger, that creatures of the warp can use them as a foothold into this reality. What if that happens? What if I endanger my brothers? The Chapter?’ Tigurius nodded slowly, as if considering his answer. Then he slowly turned, raising his arms and staff to take in the immense chamber. ‘You see the gold lines running through the stone, brother?’ he asked. Loraeus nodded, and the Chief Librarian continued. ‘They have a core of psychically warded electrum and entwine throughout the Librarium’s structure in a very precise geomantic pattern. They channel energy in such a way that no matter the severity of the… accident that occurs within these walls, there will be no pathway for the Ruinous Powers to enter the Fortress of Hera. Simply put - they stop daemons getting in.’ Tigurius took another step forward and pointed his staff at Loraeus’ head. ‘And the psychic hood you wear will also help, as will your force weapon, when you construct it.’ Loraeus couldn’t prevent excitement from crossing his face, and Tigurius smiled once more. ‘Which you won’t be doing for a while. There is much training you must undergo before you will be ready to wield your power. And it begins…’ - he paused for a moment - ‘tomorrow.’ ‘Tomorrow? Then what is to be done with the remains of this day, Chief Librarian?’ ‘Today, you will begin with one of the more… mundane tasks that are our duty.’ Tigurius gestured to a large pile of books and scrolls stacked on and around a nearby cluster of tables. ‘These must be sorted and restored to their proper places on the shelves. Consider this a good opportunity to discover how the Librarium is organised.’ Tigurius clapped Loraeus on the shoulder plate and made to stride from the chamber. He paused at the stone portal with a wry look. ‘We are Librarians, after all.’..' - The First Lesson of Acolyte-Librarian Brother Loraeus.

True story: family reunion (likely for Christmas) my cousin and I are playing pretend. He brings up cinemas' alien queen to attack my forces, I respond by declaring "I call my Librarians to--" Cousin cuts in "librarians?! Haha what are a bunch nerds gonna do to a xenomorph queen?!" I show him a glorious model. And tell him in detail of what *one* Librarian can do. At the end he said no fair and wanted to play a different game. Don't blame him.

Whenever I make a list for space marines I always include a librarian. Maybe because I collected Eldar first and love psychic HQs or the fact the idea of a space marine battle mage is awesome, but I do feel one connection for them. As someone with a mental disability, it's kind of inspiring to see characters with "gifts" overcoming their downfalls and finding strength in them.

Being someone who's older brother has played the boardgames and done a tonne of DnD and Deathwatch DnD campaigns; and having read the horus heresy books myself (thanks to my brother.) Encountering your channel for the first time some time ago; I really do think your the best I've seen when covering Grim-Dark lore. I've dabbled only a tiny bit into DnD, and Deathwatch. I'm a utter idiot when it comes to the rolls or activity, but the story around the universe is what I love the most. The Lore, the Fluff and 'warp stuff'. Heresy and Imperial Truth. Utterly captivating voice, inquisitorial or clerical, it really fits the dark setting of Grim-Dark. W40K has inspired me when creating stories for other RP and Campaigns, much like Star Wars. But your guides, encompassing creative stories and in-universe factual evidence or "evidence", really does inspire. Thanks very much, your guides on 40K make diving into the endless books and forums on Grim-Dark more enjoyable. (You really should go for a audio book career or something, your voice really fits cyberpunk or dystopian themes, hell. It would be great for GPS.)

Superb story and lore Baldamort, also the production was fantastic . You’ve got perfect levels on the audio and the added soundtrack and effects are at the level I hear in the Black Library audio books. Combined with your fantastic voice and ability to narrate really stand out . Gotta love librarians. :D They can do the Darth Vader stuff in more powerful. Why use telekinesis to force choke, if you can go biomancy on that throat? Why have them killed by firing squad if you can incinerate them? And why go for a power sword with no blade in the power field if you can go force sword and zap em when hit, until they turn inside out? For this funny crossover I'm gonna use a new hashtag: #librariansarethebettersith XD (And yes I'm roleplaying a sith lord style librarian in Black Crusade right now... ^^)
