Happy library patron here, reporting that the library not only survived, but is thriving! Nearly nine years after this video came out, I found myself watching this video through a link from the summer reading program, where they library is celebrating 50 years as a combined system. Happy Birthday, CRRL! You are the best.

Adorable! Righteous! Creative silliness! With such juiciness as this, no way will our libraries fall to budget cuts! They wouldn't dare!

You ladies and gentlemen all rule!! I lost my librarian job in a budget cut and am longing to get back. You make me proud to be a public librarian always in my heart--and soon again in a library branch, I hope!

This is brilliant! It's great to see people having so much fun like this. Let's never take for granted our libraries and our librarians!

As a librarian AND homeschooling parent, I thought this was ABSOLUTELY brilliant!! You need to take this act on the road! Have you considered doing state Library Association meetings to spread the word? You folks rock! :)

I Loved it! I am a frequent patron of the Salem and downtown Fredericksburg branches. It's nice to see that we can still have a sense of humor during the economic crisis and budget cuts. Great Job !

Central Rappahannock Regional Library System rocks! Love the lyrics and the music. "Libraries are the epitome of cool!" -- and libraries WILL survive! Love this music video!

I'm so pumped at seeing these librarians using humor to make a point. I volunteer at Salem Church Branch and I think those folks were the best! Particularly like the cardboard pic of Barbara's head being waved back and forth! Lol!

Me too. This is very poignant. Sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious, rife with enthusiasm and fun. A great response to adversity. A tribute to the vulnerable humanity of all who created this gem! I've watched it over and over.

Wow! The CRRL rocks and I'm very proud of my hometown, Fredericksburg, Virginia and all the talented and dedicated folks who work at the fabulous Central Rappahannock Regional Library. Thanks so much for sharing this fun and important message. Libraries are truly places where you discover all kinds of wonderful things, including very hip librarians! Bravo!

It's interesting to note original production date of this video - laplus lechange, laplus dememelamemchoix (the more things change, the more they remain the same). A clever adaptation of the song! This very creative library system deserves some kind of award or recognition. 'Hope they continue with a reasonable budget as I am sure they can create some incredibly creative programs and services. Budget cuts and hold the line budgets remain real for so many of us. Keep up the good work.

I watched this video thinking surely it was filmed in some progressive CA library system only to find O-M-G it's a VIRGINIA library system!!! (I'm in Richmond) WOOT!! You librarians RAWK!! Thanks for all you do to spread the word about books and the power of knowledge! Best, Monica

I didn't take the comment about home schoolers as a knock. They're right we WOULD be upset. I took it as not wanting to make cuts in an area that would upset and impact home schoolers. Librarians - I have reposted your most excellent video as part of my blog series on making videos. As an example of how any point can be made with video. And if librarians have discovered the power of KZbin, it's about time business owners stopped being afraid of the camera and followed your lead. Great work!

Most people haven't learned to apply two very important lessons in life: Learn to accept things you cannot change (it's a fact: stress kills!), and when life hands you lemons, make lemonade! Turn the other cheek, make lemonade, and always look on the bright side of life. I say do another video, but make it good! Very creative and appealing to breadwinners. I am going to share this on Facebook. YOU: Spread the word, get them recognized and get their budget paid for! We CAN do it!
