For whatever bizarre reason I completely forgot to showcase the cowbells, tambourines and triangles.

That is a shame, because I have a fever and the only prescription is.... more cowbell! Great review either way.

Another fine walk-through Cory, with really interesting and illustrative musical examples (your Marimba & Xylophone tunes were very cool!)

I like the timpani especially now I see it has 8x RR. The price is really great, too!

Yeah those timpani are stellar.

Hey, thanks for the video! I know you prefer True Strike to this but is it because of the sounds itself or the fact that TS has more variety? It might be just the mic positions used in these videos but to me X3M seems more "grand" and cinematic (I hate that word haha) when it comes to the hall sound. Timpanis are especially important to me so I'm wondering how True Strikes' timpani compares to this.
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
True Strike has a larger variety of instruments and just sounds well balanced and fits with almost anything. X3M has a warmer lush sound. I still personally prefer True Strike's timpani for general work as X3M's sounds more thick and boomy.

@@CoryPelizzari Thanks for the insight. By the way, if you have cineperc, how does the tonal quality and/or room of these compare to it?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
@@Tremendouz I never picked up CinePerc because of how expensive it is. A lot of people like it though.
@Tremendouz4 жыл бұрын
@@CoryPelizzari Yeah it is. I'll probably grab either X3M or True Strike during a potential black friday sale because of that. I wish you could buy Cineperc in parts instead of the whole thing.

No Celeste? That is a bummer given how good this library sounds. Its so hard to find a good one, and the only one so far is Spitfire Percussion that sounds good.
@CoryPelizzari Жыл бұрын
The celeste from Spectrasonics' Keyscape and Soniccouture's Celeste are personal favourites. I've also used True Strike's celeste on quite a few things with some eq in the sweet spot. Keyscape also has a dulcitone, which is a great precursor to the celeste.

I'm hesitating.... Stresov Sampling or ImpactSoundworks......??????????

Hey Cory...can you comment if Cineperc would be a better choice for orchestral percussion than Strezov? Both sound good to me, but from a percussionist view? Thanks. BTW, I do have Rhapsody Percussion also...seems that these smaller libraries are missing many common instruments though. Your thoughts?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
X3M has great idiophones but is a bit thin overall compared to Cineperc. Cineperc is just too expensive to recommend on a whim - at that price I'd rather have Berlin Percussion, but if you've got the cash available, Cineperc is a good all rounder for orchestral as well as cinematic stuff.

@@CoryPelizzari cool..I get 50% off for teacher EDU, so then Cineperc would be a great value. Thanks!!

sound great. No Celesta.... too bad. I have Rhapsody Orchestral Percussion and I don't really like it...
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
Yeah Rhapsody's more for intimate sounding stuff and you have to mix it in. My favourite's always going to be True Strike because it just sounds good on everything.
