I cried so much while reading this. It seems as though it was just yesterday that I started the Anne of Green Gables series as a young high school student, yet now I am in college and have finally finished it- after almost 4 years. This was a simply marvelous and spectacular conclusion to the 8-book series, and felt very bittersweet, in a way. As I have read the books, so have I also grown and matured right alongside Anne and the characters all around her. Rilla was such an amazing girl, and I really enjoyed getting to know her more in this book. I will surely have my own children read this wonderful series when the time comes. But, for now, I will store up all of the splendid and lovable characters into the depths of my heart, and treasure the fond memories that I have made while reading this series. Thank you, L.M. Montgomery, for writing such beautiful books. And thank you to Karen Savage, for reading half of the series to me, haha! Words cannot express my gratitude to both of you women. ❤

The reading is almost too real for me I’ve been crying over little Bruce and poor stripy for about 10 minutes at least I am a 26 year old Woman and of course I know it’s all fictional but I can’t get the sadness and kindness and hopelessness and love does that would’ve taken out of my head every time I stop crying I think a very careless start back up and I need to go to sleep but it keeps playing over my head and I Can’t tell anyone because they would make fun of me I just had to get it out

I've read and lived this series for decades, and I've never cried more about anything in all 8 books than I did (and still do) when I read about poor Stripey.
@tamieiselt8752 жыл бұрын
I have cried through this series so many times. This book the most. Stripy was awful, I know it is fictional his father being a wonderful preacher the young lad wouldn't have drowned his beloved cat to bargain with God because the lad would have known better. Walter dying was very tragic, but so many soldiers did die so that was quite possible. Such a moving story!

Much better than those who are appalled, those who have more value for animals than human life can't see past that it's not real. They can't even see the love a little boy has, willing to give up what he loves so much for the sake of another. It reminds me of the quote of Jesus "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

Why did you add to the book? In the part where Rilla buys the green velvet hat there’s a whole paragraph about Anne that wasn’t in the original book that I have.
@klauge7636 ай бұрын
It's in my book, I read along ss I listen so I know it's not an addition. Just so your aware there were some publisher's that required changes back in the day to books, an example is the original Anne if Windy Willows, American publisher's made her rename that for the US (hence Anne of Windy poplars) while other parts of the world did not. They also made her omit a page or 2 they felt too gruesome for Americans. Also your copy is probably just an error in publication.

Wow, I had no idea how much this author was into the SUPERNATURAL. Is it *three* characters who are in touch with occultic visions and such - wow.
@annapulley35 Жыл бұрын
What? Where? Is that a good or bad thing in your opinion?
@LilacDaisy2 Жыл бұрын
@@annapulley35 It's a traitorous thing, to God. I was speaking of the people who had visions of the future, that they'd rely on, like a weather forecast. And the dog that howled all night when her brother died ... so they knew the dog's owner was alive, because the dog hadn't mourned his departed spirit.
@annapulley35 Жыл бұрын
@@LilacDaisy2Yes it's very disrespectful and wrong. I'm disappointed in Lucy for including that in her book. There have been times that people have been spoken to in dreams and such but that's rare. It was probably just a coincidence given the character's feelings at the time.
@LilacDaisy2 Жыл бұрын
@@annapulley35 After this one, I started listening to the one where Anne is engaged (I think), and Anne's telling a little boy all about the "wind woman" and her ... occultic powers (basically). I'd had enough of the author's fascination with it, by then, so I stopped. The fact the author never said anything about the premonitions being from God troubled me, and I've since read the letter she wrote, just prior to her death, that talks about spells. Maybe she didn't mean witchcraft, but after all the above, I'm suspicious. Certainly taints my childhood love of Anne.
