License Plates From Different Countries

Many are renewed by now. Tanzania starting with Z and identifier EAZ is actually Zanzibar. German plates don't have Umlaut (except sometimes area identifier) and the numbers don't start with a 0.

Had a friend whose hobby was checking the licence plates of cars that featured in porn films - a positive identification would help him determine the location and when the film was done (as well as checking businesses and street signs on Google Maps). He told me that he wasn’t the only person who does this :-)

The Spanish one is wrong; and where is the UK?? The 'Ireland' one is actually Republic of Ireland - Northern Ireland has its own system - and it does not run to 6 number digits.

That's no South African plate, at least not from this era. Actually looks like a plate from the old government. Our current plates are actually the best looking in the world by far judging from these shown here. They are actually on a league of their our unmatched by any

Not quite. What France and Italy have is the suggested system by the EU, but it seems no other countries followed the EU guideline here.
