It's funny. Les does so many illegal things tonight and yet, his sister is the one who ends up in jail! When they made the new scene, they should've at least kept that part in movie where we see her in jail all miserable.

His sister being in jail was too close to the scenes in Ferris Buellers Day Off which came out extremely close to the time this came out so it was decided to focus more so on the driving aspects and those about to or have just received their licenses.

Also, the movie was originally supposed to end when the beam fell on the car and Les and his dad just stare at it with their mouths wide open but they felt it would be better to have the grandfather show up and show them that he totaled their car, too! Heh, like grandfather like grandson!

There were 2 things that I liked about this ending, 1. Those 3 punks get beaten up in the bar fight, so they finally got what was coming to them. 2. It was really funny to see Les's sister in jail. (Originally, that was supposed to be the last time in the movie that you'd see her) The second ending is funnier because it's hilarious to see that drunk driver really ruin the car. Originally, the movie was supposed to end where that heavy beam falls right on the car and Les and his father stare at it in shock with their mouths wide open.

Then we would have missed the funny bit where it turned out Grandpa really destroyed the dad's car. And I thought my little cousin had bad luck with cars. LOL

@@alexanderpytko5394 You know what they say about the apple not falling too far from the tree. Someone did make the point about the sister in jail being very similar to Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but I agree with you, on;y because she was portrayed as the good one, and she knew it and was a bit arrogant about it. So it would have been satisfying to see her get knocked down a few pegs.

Plus, she catches him red-handed but is arrested for rioting and protesting before she tell their parents. You would think seeing her boyfriend sing with the others while she leans against the bars miserable would mean she's going to dump him.

Love seeing this deleted footage. The script has them covertly swapping out the cars earlier so they don' t risk getting Grampas car damaged, they noticed the same car when they got to Shakey's and Dean talked Les into it with the intention of swapping them back after their night out. This deleted scene was a bit confusing when the dvd came out, until I read the script. There's also a few little scenes in the trailer that aren't here. Les getting his books from his locker, Les and the guys talking outside the party, Dean wearing Grandpas golfer hat in the car, etc.

There was another deleted scene i remember and it just before they get on the bridge chasing the drunk. It shows the cadillac turning left, going onto the bridge from a far top angle, like it was on filmed on top of a building. It was was just a 15-20 second clip but it was alright

You may ask how did they switch the cars in the first place. I've read the script. Apparently, when they arrive at that pizza place and Charles takes Mercedes out for pop. Les and Dino see that car dealership across the street and see there's a Cadillac on display exactly like the one they've got so they decide to switch them. Sick Sam is leaning back in his chair fast asleep, so from the window, they use a ball fetcher(from Les's grandfather's golf club bag) to switch the keys that are hanging on the wall. Then they switch the cars.

What was the point of switching them in the first place? Because of the damage to the hood when Les and Mercedes were laying on it? I thought Dean fixed that.

@@pdennis93 In the script Dean suggested they switch cars so they wouldn't get Grandpas dirty/wrecked. They were just going to borrow it and replace it with Gramp's for the night out when they spotted it on the ramp when they got to Shakey's. They didn't include that deleted scene here or didn't shoot it, not sure which.

Ok, I seriously don't get this scene. Like, I get that it would have been a cool alternate scene for another way of how the car got destroyed by the gang, but what is with the second Caddy. How did the cars get switched, how did Grandpa's Caddy get on the display of a used car lot. Too much isn't explained here. Somebody out there who has any input on this cause I'm confused as hell

I think somewhere in the original script, they saw the car at a dealer across from the Shakey's and decided to switch so there would be no evidence of them taking grandpa's car for an illegal joyride.

Mercedes wanders off in another deleted scene so they spend part of the night trying to track her down which leads them to the pimp in the other Caddy, the bar, and so on. The guys at the bar end up helping them (similar to the Weird Science related scenes). The big guy with the red shirt also fixes the Caddy in a deleted ending because Les apparently helped his marriage but that deleted scene never was released.

Sure, I can help. Dean spotted a caddy similar to grandpas at the dealership on the ramp when they got to Shakey's and they swapped cars so they wouldn't risk damaging grandpas. They successfully switched them out when the owner was asleep in his office. When they went to swap them back that's when this scene starts, the owner had no clue. I was confused also until I read the script.
