I'm pretty sure there is something very valuable in this video, so I keep watching it. But at the same time I can't do anything you're saying because I can't finger picking like you do. I guess this lesson is just part of a big puzzle and at some point I will figure it out.

Hi! thanks for the video! I'd just add the following: The main key used in the solo is Bminor (BC#DEF#GA), but the chord F# is _not_ in the Bminor key (it contains the A#). The four chords used at the beginning (Bm;G;Em;F#) are part of the so called Minor Harmonic Scale (BC#DEF#GA#) (where, with respect to the standard Bminor, the seventh note is "sharped"). The effect of switching from the two scales is actually very good to hear!

I really enjoyed this and understand the theory. but my right hand gets lost on the improv.. Could you give a timing reference or some info on how you are counting the beats in each bar? the 4 on the third string is the same as open second so when you were messing with the scales which one do you leave out?
@ItsZeroo988 жыл бұрын
Can you do a video explaining pentatonic scales and where they're located (such as A). I'm not a beginner by no means, and I use pentatonic scales a lot without even knowing. My guitar instructors don't even talk about it even though I know they should & I have been writing songs using pentatonic scales for a long time without even knowing I was. I would just really like to know the music theory behind what makes music so beautiful.
@dennisluong14498 жыл бұрын
there are 5 position to the pentatonic scale of A. the pentatonic scale uses 5 of 7 notes from the natural scale 1 3 4 5 7 .. (minor) = 1 b3 4 5 b7 google for the shapes of the pentatonic shapes and dont wait for your teacher to tell u.. if u have questions ask if u ask maybe they will tell u and more they just want to drag out your lessons and hold u back if thats the case look for a new instructor and make sure your instructor know exactly what u want out of music and what your goals are in music and the guitar itself. you have to make it clear to you and your instructor and the goals and purpose the what u want to achieve

This is a progression for a simple 4-chord vamp. For those likening this to "Hotel California," see if you can get the more cohesive and extended logic to that progression--that's where the deeper structural beauty is in "HC."
