The Katas name is "Kanku Dai". studied by many practitioners of Okinawan Karate, specifically styles related to Shuri-te Karate and Shotokan Karate as well. I guess Lidia will be my second main character :)

The name Kūsankū or Kōsōkun (公相君) is used in Okinawan systems of karate, and refers to Kūsankū, a Chinese diplomat from Fukien who traveled to Okinawa in the 1700s. In Japanese systems of karate, the kata has been known as Kankū (translated as gazing heavenward, viewing the sky, or contemplating the sky) ever since it was renamed in the 1930s by Funakoshi Gichin. This kata is also practiced in Tang Soo Do as Kong Sang Koon (공상군) in Korean according to the hangul rendering of the hanja 公相君. Most schools of Tang Soo Do only practice the "Dai" version a handful do practice both the latter and "Sho" versions.

You're 100% correct! It's Shotokan! I've trained that for too many years. Jin is more Freestyle Karate which why they're so similar but those moves are legit! Nice catch!

What's amazing about her style is she has a virtual fighter approach to her so you have to master her moves till it's second nature in order to better bring out her true potential I'm very glad they made a character similar to Leroy but much more structured. The poolside theme remix from Tekken 5 and the remix of the beach theme from Tekken 4 is amazing as well. This is the best character reveal they did for the lifespan of Tekken 7 and if this is the final one then they left flawless! Can't wait for next chapter in the Tekken series.

Hei is Mishima ryu, Jin is Traditional Kyokushin karate with few modifications. Lidia supposed to be Polski Karate so it is more closer to Shotokan!

It's actually not quite Shotokan. She practices Potega, which is the Polish version of Karate. Still just as awesome, though.

To be honest I don't know potega as you told but I practice Shotokan Karate for 20 years now (in France) and Lidia's moves are 99% Shotokan Karate based... 😅 It's the first Tekken character that have this style finally so well represented. And yeah I do agree that she is great!

If you didn't know, she has many moves that are either named after kata and represent a very specific and recognizable bit of that kata, such as: gankaku => yoko geri keage followed by oi zuki, should be familiar if you know gankaku Kusanku => nidan geri followed by uraken uchi (you know the kata under the name kanku) Heian shodan => gedan barai followed by oi zuki Jion Upward Thrust => that move in jion that follows manji uke, where you uppercut with one fist, and the other fist is at the elbow. Also seen in Heian Godan, just before the jump Gojushiho => The second kiai's technique, although it's more akin to the okinawan version than the shotokan version Bassai-zuki => yama zuki, the double punch from both bassai dai and bassai sho Buuut, there are also moves whose names aren't from kata, but you can see how they were influenced by kata, such as: Enlightenment => a three strikes combo from a okinawan kata called kururunfa White whale => the first movement in Heian Nidan Vortex => a possible bunkai from that spin in Heian Sandan leading to the first kiai Magpie Strike => that specific strike from enpi where you strike downwards while arming the other hand for a gedan barai Cat foot stance 1 => manji uke in neko ashi dachi position. I don't remember any kata that uses manji uke with that stance in shotokan, but I think it is in chatanyara no kushanku in shito-ryu Cat foot stance 2 => remember the kata Enpi? The slow hand movement? That's it. And speaking of Enpi... Vacuity => the spin jump into shuto uke leading to the second kiai (I think?). Here it's used as a way to gain some distance and open new attacks. And last but not least : Sashi-te => the shuto uchi with the other hand on the forehead as seen is kata such as Heian Yondan, kanku/kushanku, etc... There are more, I think, but I'm a bit rusty on my karate knowledge, though many moves I haven't mentioned do seem familiar :). If you're a karate enthusiast, you'll get a kick out of her, as her influences are mainly shotokan, but with a bit of goju ryu, shito ryu and kyokushinkai for good measure. Definitely my favourite character to come out of the game so far, on the moveset alone.

First time I saw her movement while fighting Bryan and friends, it looks like one of shotokan kata (I forgot which one). Her fighting style in game seems a bit different from shotokan though. I think she have the coolest movement after Fahkumram.

I did this style for like 18 years. To see it put in a game and not have it look stupid traditional to the point of obsurdity is amazing. Traditional martial arts in games tend to be weird if they make them too old school and they look way to goofy and unappealing. Seeing kanku dai again for the first time in years is making me want to go back to train

Yeah so jin does kyokushin karate but an adapted version. Heihachi does modified goju ryu. Kazuya also does shotokan but its very stylized. Lidia is the most accurate karate depiction in the series. I'm really impressed.

Looking back to this character reveal it forever marked the day, when Street Fighter's Makoto got her perfect Tekken counterpart match!…Tekken got lots of perfect matches with SF, if only one day we finally got that TxSF (Namco's gameplay version!) if only...but at this point it's probably safe to assume it is forever shelved...such a shame!

Yeah, they still use delay-based netcode which means matches against anyone more than a six-hour drive away, or across oceans, automatically means lag so bad it's unplayable

well there is a bit of gankaku there, a bit of empi and i think something between heian godan or kanku sho but i could easily mistaken lol XD (i find kata can be easily mispoken ). but then again i think she really has a solid shotokan style. her rage arts i think unshu, hmm i dont know hahaha. and both kazuya and heihachi were karate but infused with mishima style dojo (based on the last tekken 6 data). so it feels more fluent and less structure. i wish how is the Poland backround of this character that would be awesome

Tekken 7 servers on PS4 are NOT bad. play Street Fighter 30th anniversary collection online, or if you played Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting on Xbox 360 (or any of the SNK games on Xbox online) you would see how spoiled modern gamers are with higher quality online play like in Tekken 7 and DOA6, yet people underrating their performance. I play tournament mode on Tekken 7 daily and there's plenty of players with good connection. yes some lag, but no netcode is perfect especially for a high graphics full 3D fighting game that supports spectators and customization. games like Guilty Gear have a better chance of smoother matches because they are just origami dolls in front of a pop-up book, compared to Tekken full 3D 360 degrees graphics and much higher level of details, customization and physics. There is no netcode that can turn a wi-fi connection into a perfect cable connection speed with these graphics. Tekken 7 netcode is near flawless compared to the fighting games with slideshow netcode. KOF 2k2 Unlimited Match sacrificed spectating to have smoother matches, but in turn it lost a sense of community due to only 2 player lobbies.

also no matter how soon they start working on Tekken 8, it's launch build will not match the roster and content and refinements Tekken 7 has thanks to its 4 season long support and expansions. They made the right decision adding content to Tekken 7 this long. there is no guarantee Tekken 8 would be as good anyways. Tekken series rose up to Tekken 3, then Tekken 4 and 5 was a decline in appeal and were rather meh, then Tekken 6 rose it back up again and Tekken 7 is the best series ever been. Tekken 8 is likely going to cut some characters so its already a downgrade to fans of favorites that might not be in T8.
