So even their advertising tag line "Big on quality - Lidl on price" applies to their chargers...! Top marks, Lidl 👍

Great review how long are you aloud to stay “park” at Lidi’s. Gerry
@warnerswheelingabout48792 жыл бұрын
Hi Gerry, There were no notices or instructions at this charge point about permitted time of stay. We have used Lidl charges many times in different towns and never seen any notices about this. We have only ever used them while we were shopping usually 45 minutes to an hour and 10 minutes max. I have seen reports of some people being fined but maybe because there were notices stating they must register their car at the shop or perhaps they left their cars charging overnight I’m not sure I would recommend you check with the staff at Lidl if you have any concerns.

Car Parking charges: be mindful that some shop car parks will have a time limit for your car parking there. Irrespective of actually the using the rapid charger (separate notice, high up!) Mini's charge port being on the RHS: would the PodPoint cable been long enough to reach around in the other bay? Plus the awkwardness to negotiate cable(s) and space? I think there's a lot more thought and action needed to make accessibility easier for all.

I’ve already had two parking tickets while charging in shopping malls. One was canceled the other one I got a 50% refund even they know it’s unreasonable. Tesco podPOINT is very good and you can park in front or behind the chargers which makes it easier and yes the cables can get in the way sometimes especially if you have to open the tailgate

Great video. Please could you explain how the Mini app works alongside the other apps? Thanks.
@warnerswheelingabout48792 жыл бұрын
Mini Connect app is available for all Mini’s with the Mini SE you get all the normal functions like locking the car location etc, you also see battery % and range. You can pre condition the car turn it on while you still at home and warm up battery and cabin. You can see when it’s charging and check in to monitors the charge progress. It also keeps a log of all your charging sessions, in details you can set up prices per kWh and then in calculates costs as well, very useful.
Hi I've just ordered my car and also I'm a wheelchair are they free or was this a lucky one I have a shop 2 mins from me cheers

Hi Phil, it varies from shop to shop. Usually Tesco Rapid chargers you have to pay, that’s the 50kw chargers with the cables and plugs. The others are fast chargers either 7kw or 22kw those you need to use your own cable that’s supplied with the car. Tesco is good because they have large parking bays and the units are accessible. We use the free charge ‘little and often’ that’s the best way. That Lidl 50kw is no longer free. Some Lidl have free fast chargers. Both Tesco and Lidl usually use PODpoint machines, and you’ll need their app on your phone, you have to locate the charger on the map select it set up the charge on your car and then confirm the charge on the app.If you don’t confirm the charge on the app the charge will end after 15 minutes.

I'm the same when it came to having a home installation. I'm unable to have one, so it's on street parking for me. It didn't dissuade me in getting an ev. I have a Peugeot-2008 & I luv it. 😁

When I went to lidl my charging has disconnected! Do I have to leave my phone in the car before I leave? Lol I'm new to all this and have no idea and do I have to leave the car on start before I leave?
@warnerswheelingabout48792 жыл бұрын
If you’re using the pod point at Lidl, you will need to use the app to select the charger and to start the charge. If you don’t it will stop charging after 15 minutes. Once you’ve started the charge from the app then you can just leave the car and take your phone with you

2-3 years ago there were a lot of free public chargers, made owning an EV a sensible choice, but now very hard to find free charging, and electricity prices have risen a great deal. Some companies are gouging because they no EV drivers don’t have a choice.
