Kasey spent her lock down writing the music and the arrangement for this. Well worth the time.🎉❤

I think the graininess of the phone video makes the whole thing even more impactful. I hope she tours here in the states soon.

As an Aussie, I know of Kasey Chambers and a couple of her songs, but her music isn't something I would normally listen to. Much like Eminem, I haven't listened to any of his current music but several of his songs from the loose yourself era, however, after months of seeing this showing up on my KZbin recommendations I gave in and watched it. Talk about being blown away, I now have watched every reaction I can find and have watched the clip personally many many times, it absolutely awesome. Also from what I've read on other reaction videos Eminem has seen it and she was able to release it on Spotify with no copyright issues, so I would assume that he appreciated the cover, cheers
@stanroach28422 ай бұрын
There's no actual evidence Eminem has seen it & as he doesn't hold the copyright to the song - he has no say. The Bass Brothers through their Eight Mile Style publishing company hold the rights & the reality is - anyone can upload a cover to Spotify - for platforms outside of the United States, Mexico, Canada, Pakistan, and India - Spotify comes with an automatic "compulsory" license - a set amount of Royalties for each download of the song. For platforms inside those regions - a "Mechanical" license is required - this sets a specific number of downloads (starting at 200) before the License must be renewed - NEITHER requires permission from the copyright holder.

@stanroach2842 fair enough, as I said it's what others have commented on other reactions and it was something that I hadn't seen on this post, so all good, cheers
@kelloneill74Ай бұрын
@@stanroach2842 unlike others, the person whose comment you're replying to didn't state that Eminem seeing this is a proven fact - he even said that he's only passing on what he's read and isn't sure. As much as your reply is probably factually correct, it felt a little like you were telling people off for spreading a joyful rumour. Whether Eminem personally approved it or not detracts from the fact that Kasey nailed this performance and deserves to monetise it - she honoured the song beautifully.

I had a similar experience to you. I worked in music retail when "Am I Not Pretty Enough" was released in Australia. I appreciated the sentiment of the song but was in my grunge/alternative era at the time so dismissed Kasey a little. I only discovered this cover on another reactor's channel and I literally whooped out loud in surprise. I was totally awestruck by the arrangement and the different mood of the song compared to Eminems. I'm glad she's getting praise for it :)

Kasey is a huge Eminem fan, l think she felt his pain and need for acceptance(both personally and professionally); the emotion Kasey put into this performance came from mainstream Australian radio stations desire to pigeon hole her, but she refused to be defined as just a country singer-songwriter. Kasey's own songs reflect how other genres influence her music style. Kasey took the opportunity during the lockdown for Covid, to rework Eminem's rap song into her own; while Eminem's rap approach is more reactive, Kasey's was more emotive. Such was the difference between the original and her version, that Kasey was given permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right; that shows the calibre of her musicality, she's an Australian gem.

Kasey is from Australia. In 2018, she became the youngest member to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and she has received numerous platinum records in Australia I like that she kept the integrity of the lyrics, added a lot of emotion, and made the song completely her own. I was blown away when I heard this version. It's brilliant what she did here. BTW, her dad was playing the steel guitar. If you want to hear more from her, I recommend "Bittersweet" (a duet with the Australian singer Bernard Fannigan) and "Ain't No Little Girl".

Another great Aussie cover is John Farnham singing Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO). Even John Lennon commented that this was the way the Beatles should’ve done it. He was never happy with their upbeat version. Do yourself a favour and check it out. Great reaction to Kasey.❤

Best reaction I've watched with this video. You mentioned many good points about the Eminem cover. Kasey performed this song again about 10 months ago here in Australia without her father who plays the slide guitar.I agree with you that his input gave the song added impact and emotion in the Newcastle performance. Thanks again, subscribed.

I watched her play it a week ago at the Sydney Opera House with her full band including her dad. Or as she put it ‘this old guy who keeps turning up at my concerts’. Lots of love in that family.

All the videos used were from the one performance. It’s her dad Bill Chambers playing the steel guitar. He just got awarded the ARIA Lifetime Achievement Award for service to country music. (Australian Recording Industry Awards) Kasey got awarded a similar award for Australian Women Artists by ARIA last month. I have been a welded on fan of Kasey’s since she was a teenager fronting her family band The Dead Ringers. She puts her heart and soul into every single thing she does. For something completely different please react to Ren ‘Hi Ren’ if you haven’t already. These songs, Kasey’s ‘Lose Yourself’ and ‘Hi Ren’ are the two most significant recordings of the current decade for me.

wasn't really an homage to Marshall. But yes, she absolutely lived this as she tried so hard to get her music out there and to make a living from it.

No, that's a lap steel. Slide guitar is played standing up, in the position of playing a normal guitar, but with the slidey part added. Then there's peddle steel as well, but I don't think you know enough about instruments to know that one.

You appreciate a good, (great), cover and I know you have reacted to John Farnham in the past, so here are 3 covers from him that you WILL love, (and might make a nice little series for you to post). They are all performed live in 1989 with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra on John's "Whispering Jack" tour, although there is no video for the first song as it was only a "warm up" before filming started.
