Aeons ago, I was very intrigued with drum cover videos with the likes of Dream Theatre and Nightwish to name a few. My favourite drummers to watch doing cover back then were Solitary Glenn and Aria Deathstorm, until one sweet day in 2015, I stumbled upon a young girl playing drums to a Dream Theatre's Constant Motion. What caught my attention was that not only she played without any noticable mishap or almost perfect, but she seemed to be able to perform in a way that makes it looks too easy for her to navigate through multiple time signature changes with a cute smile on her face. The drummer's name is Murata Tamu, a professional solo drummer who had been on the scene since a very young age and eventually became one of the highly demanded fill-in drummer in Japan, from an idol group live performance to soundtrack production works, jazz fusion to rock/metal concert, she had them all covered. In 2019 she announced that she met some nice friends and decided to 'stay connected' with them while hitting them hard with her drumming. That nice friend she mentioned are NEMOPHILA band members, where she is among the founding members of the band... and after I listened to NEMOPHILA vocalist - mayu's voice, the rest is history.

They formed in August 2019 as a session band for Mayu, the singer. She knew the bassist, Haraguchi-san, and found the others, drummer Tamu Murata and guitarists Hazuki and Saki. They were all in other bands before, and liked playing together so much that they decided to form a new band. Saki decided to leave in March 2024 and is now doing solo stuff and working with other musicians.

I think your assessment of this song (and their music in general) is spot on! They are quite amazing. I don't know anything about the band except that the three songs I've heard them sing have all been totally amazing! Thank you very much! 😀

Thank you for checking out Nemophila, I absolutely adore them! Nemophila is a relatively new band formed just prior to covid (so they had an uphill battle forming right before the pandemic) but have blossomed to such an amazing group of females. Yes from they are from Japan and I actually discovered them from randomly coming across a Babymetal cover they put out of the song Megitsune (they have some really awesome covers to alot of bands I think you would get a kick out of) and I was instantly hooked. So nice to hear your thoughts and I think you were very spot on with them. Looking forward to more!

3:53 This is one of my favourite lines in any song: "Can you say now is the best of who you are?"

You were talking about how sometimes language just melds so well with the music.. and another streamer described it so well.. they said that Japanese sounds like another instrument and it's so true. You don't need to understand the words as the tonality of the language fits in with the music. Understanding is just a bonus if that adds yet another dimension to your personal listening

Great reaction!....Nemophila (neh-moe-fee-la) is 🔥🔥🔥 Most people start with Dissention (MV, Japanese ver.) or Revive (MV) and then Adabana (MV), Rise (MV), etc. Here are suggestions based on Mayu's lead vocal style Cleans Raitei (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJLSmJt_erWCj8U Seize the Fate (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6queH5niMpnmNE Odyssey (MV) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGm1mZ2HpauZlbM Life (live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eanQfYKeebuir9k Cleans + Screams Revive (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmPIfqKBq9ipeKc Rise (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/epKpf2iAac6Dgqs Dissention (MV) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGfEfqiXnd2tbsU Oiran (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6Kkc6GceM2jmM0 Adabana (MV) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6m8moKtqNpprbc Ama-Te-Ras (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2evgpyjh9Z9na8 Screams Zen (Live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWLcgZV4h615o9U 'Zen' (live), Oiran (live) and Dissention (MV) are some of their hardest and best songs 'Live' is an emotional 'ballad-like' song sung in the video as a 'welcome back' to Tamu (drummer) after her maternity leave. Great song and shows a completely different side of Nemophila. 'Ama-Te-Ras' is quite unique 'groovy metal' song and one of their best as well

All the members of Nemophila are incredibly talented. Mayu (vocalist) is simply phenomenal. I found this group back in mid, or late 2019 I think. On my first listen, I thought Mayu was going to destroy her voice. Five years latter and she still screams like a banshee and effortlessly flows to growls and cleans. Aside from her vocal range, she performs Metal, Rock, Pop and Hiphop styles to a perfection level. Incredible group.
