Hard to imagine another performance as transformative, as complete as this. Meier's face really is experiencing all the extreme states the role demands of her, and moves beyond... these are mimics of Greek-tragedy proportions, her whole physiognomics seem to enlarge at times. What a revelation and absolute consumption, besides her voice of course, the musical performance is totally otherworldy in perfection anyway. Also, speaking as a German, I can understand almost all she sings: always a marker of absolute quality, when the singers are able to still pronounce the words while hitting pitch. I really believe this is the best performance online, I come back to it again and again. Thanks for the upload in such good image quality as well.
