Original title: Lied der Interbrigaden
Translated title: Song of the Interbrigades
Interpret: ?
Music: Espinoa/Palacio
Lyrics: Erich Weinert
Year: ~1936
The song was written shortly after the formation of the International Brigades in 1936. The melody had already been written in 1934 for a song dedicated to the Brazilian revolutionary Luis Carlos Prestes. The new text, written by Erich Weinert, has other verses, some of which were also sung by Ernst Busch and can be found, for example, in Inge Lammel's collection of songs "Und weil der Mensch ein Mensch ist."

Spaniens Freiheit heißt jetzt unsre Ehre;
Mit Gewehren, Bomben und Granaten
wird das Ungeziefer ausgebrannt.
/: Frei das Land von Banditen und Piraten,
Brüder Spaniens, denn euch gehört das Land! :/
Dem Faschistengesindel keine Gnade,
keine Gnade dem Hund, der uns verrät!
/: Vorwärts, Internationale Brigade!
Hoch die Fahne der Solidarität! :/
