So my friend sold his copy of this game because he just wanted a game were you just fight ghosts lol. I knew about the game but didn't know he had it, otherwise I would have bought it off him. For me this type of game having it about saving the ghosts makes it unique.

Thank you very much for the video and your impressions. I got the base game last year on a steep sale. It is an ok game but definitely nothing I would back an expansion campaign, with expensive shipping, for. This is something that is perfectly fine to be picked up in retail, should it really be necessary.

I dont think most expansions are necessary in general. But if retail is the way to go for anyone given the circumstances, I always support that as well

Yes! This has been on my wishlist since you reviewed it some time ago. I have about 20 dungeon crawlers in my collection (4 of them are for sale) and I really like that Vagrantsong does something different with the genre. I have backed it. Thank you Chris. ^^

Biggest criticism I've read of the base game is that its a bit too easy, I cant say whether I have found that to be true or not though as mine still sits un played on the shelf...

Maybe way too late but I just played it for the first time, I loved it and the two people who played with it loved it. It's just a little wonky on rules but they are updating it.

I can't agree with you on the rules. I played the base game and there were a lot of rule questions. I had to go to BGG several times, because when it comes to applying the rules it is up to interpretation what you should do. The character progression is also not just slow but very boring, since you get to pick skills, but a lot of them have certain conditions that almost never happen. Also you don't get the skill, but a hint what the skill does and most of the time they are not helpful. I bet most people just look at the skills directly and ignore the hints. It's hard to guess what the skill actually does and when you get it, it isn't even worth it most of the times. I kept the start skills for my character throughout the game since nothing was really better. Also with the exception of one characters all characters have only one slot for an item. Skills and items(called Junk in this game) are the only ways to customize and grow your characters, but once you get the right item you don't need another one. I played the Revivalist and got the item that extends the range of my abilites. I never picked any other items, since a lot of them, like the skills have way to specific nische conditions, that almost never apply. I got it quite early on too, since it is a random item you can get as early as the second scenario. Also you can't prepare for future scenarios since you don't even get a hint what the next fight is gonna be like. You need to know all the scenarios first to have an element of preparation. This makes most skills just not worth it. The action selection with the coins is also not really engaging. You just place coins and play out what you planned. For some actions and skills you role dice. Sometimes you don't get any success on your die roles and just stand there and do nothing. When you need to investige a token on the board and don't any successes or place your dice on a skill but don't hit anything. There is no mitigation to the dice roles. You could waste several turns doing nothing. They could have easily made a better and more fun system. The player turns are very boring. You have no interesting choices. It's always move+attack or use skill or move+investige. Sometimes you need to rummage for a token or patch yourself up. It gets repetitive quite fast. I want to like this game, but I can't with the unclear rules, the bad character progression and boring player turns. The good things about this game are the production value, the style and for me even the theme, but that alone doesn't salvage this game. It could have been great. Also Liege, this game is no dungeon crawler. It's a boss battler. That's all you do. Every scenario is some kind of boss fight. Sometimes you can't damage a boss, but need to do something else, but you are still "fighting" against something in a certain way. A dungeon crawler has an element of exploration. This game doesn't have that. It only kind of exploration are event tokens on the board but once you investige them, that's it. They almost always are an one time effect and that's it.
