Thx Liekes for an overall look at Vizazi, judging from her hands and feet she has Vitiligo, just as it occurs in humans! Given primates come from the same tree different branch as humans, it's to be expected they would also be prone to some of the same disorders and deceases as humans. It's wonderful that Mayani as well as the other Gorillas in this troop gets such a healthy abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. It shows in her milk production, her breast are loaded with milk, Vizazi will get all she needs to grow strong and healthy like her big sis! Great Video......

@@lynngold1865 If you look at Mayani's mouth you will see the same lack of pigmentation although clearly not to the extent that Vivazi has. I doubt that Vivazi's will go away on it's own, it's quite pronounced, not just the area around her thumb but the bottom of her feet as well. I'm not a doctor but am aware of vitiligo and it's appearance, if I'm wrong I stand corrected, time will tell!

Only Amahoro is a Eastern Lowland Gorilla. The rest of the family are Western Lowland Gorilla's ;).

It's also in the description but nope Mambele is not the mother of Thandie. Mayani is the mother of Thandie. So vizazi and thandie are half sisters. They do mate but Amahoro is on birthcontrol. And they are not allowed to get offspring. Because in the wild it doesn't happen they aren't allowed to do it in zoos. Eastern and Western lowland Gorilla's simply don't meet each other in the wild ;). If you have more questions, I'm happy to answer them ;)

Mayani was just like Thandie eating. Thandie is a very adventurous little girl. But when she wants to drink or sleep she goes to mom. Mayani eats and sleep LOL ;p.

@@LiekesShotOfLife So there's no interaction between mother n daughter? Lope at that age used to wrestles with his mom all the time. As time went on he still did that n went Shufai came along, initially there was some jealousy cos no attention given to Lope. To get her attention he used to tap his mom, Ozala's right shoulder first n then when there wasn't any reaction he did the same thing on her left shoulder. Then when no reaction he then bit his mom's side n that when she became angry with him. At that time Shufai was some days old.

It's like the hair of piglets, so coarse. Not so soft ;). Maybe the baby Gorilla's hair does feel soft. I'll ask the zookeepers next time if I get the chance ;).
