Woah! Somebody finally talks about Sun Ra! Back in the summer after my 7th grade year, I started making music, and wanted to get into experimental stuff. I discovered Sun Ra, and have loved him ever since. I’m so glad someone is finally making a video about him😃
@44okoo622 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking im done with stupid youtube altogether. Has no one ever read a book or even bothered to buy his music???
@doydivision39842 жыл бұрын
@@44okoo62 of course people buy his music, but his music is more obscure and experimental. These days, people don’t really read books as often. And who would go and buy a book about a musician they’ve never even heard of before? I think it’s cool seeing these types of videos on KZbin. It’ll get lots more kids into cool artists like Sun Ra. Kids aren’t just going to go buy Sun Ra records and buy books about him if they’ve never even heard of him before. I don’t know why you have such a problem with these types of videos. They do nothing but good for the music community.

He "literally" thought he was from Saturn? Maybe he did. He said it enough. But he also talked a lot about myth. He spoke as though he was an ambassador to humanity leading people into the new world. A new world based on myth. So was this all part of his theatrical aesthetic or did he really believe it? I don't know.

I mean i understand your point, and i don't know the answer. But copyright laws are a bitch. Sightreading music is not that big of a deal. At age 11, sure, its very impressive, but in an academic setting it's very common. I was thought trombone at age 11, and you start working on sightreading right away. You get tested on it all the time. To do it perfectly on piano with out any perp time is a feat, but you are sort of burying the lead here! He had perfect pitch! That's like saying "at age 11, he was reading at the level of a 20 year old. Oh, also he could speak 12 different languages at 4 years old and has the entire Encyclopedia Britannica memorized. And you heard me about the reading at an adult level right?"
