Wherever systems are #distributed, #timeouts are present. However, they don’t necessarily mean what you expect, and often come from unexpected sources. Don’t be fooled- let’s take a close look at what timeouts are made of, and learn how to use them wisely.

This is talk is deeply insightful, and entertaining, too. It's one of the best technical talks I've seen in years, and I watch a lot of them! I've worked on large distributed systems with lots of timeouts and retry mechanisms, and I wish I had seen this talk first. It would have saved me a lot of waking up in the middle of the night.
