@davidmeier18119 ай бұрын
Hi David, as clarification it is pronounced S'otee. LOL The last T is silent. Also, the word produced is legally defined, but it does not mean that it was distilled by the name on the label. If it is not distilled by the name on the label it must say either "Produced by, manufactured by, or bottled by." In the normal world of words, we think produced by means....well they made it (which also does not mean anything). The government says if you did not distill it you must put produced, manufactured, or bottled by and the company name on the label. I have never seen manufactured by on a label. The most common is produced by because it sounds like they made it. Great video.
@jacksmith23158 ай бұрын
Also, pruducted by just means they produced the product. However they producted it, who knows, that can vary widely. Did they produce the recipe? Did they buy sourced juice and add a little of their own? Did they buy sourced juice and just age it? All those are ways of producing something but not distilling it, and im sure their is many more ways. Reasons most dont use manufactured by, its a lot more complicated to actually manufacture something. Im prettt sure they would have to distill it to manufacture it. Therefore they just put distilled because thats what ppl want to see.

It is also very common for Bourbon Producers to say on their bottle that the Bourbon was aged and/or Bottled in a specific state, but are not required to say where it was distilled which when they say that it is always a dead give away that it is MGP from Indiana. I have no issue with MGP products, they make some great Bourbons and Whiskies, but just be honest about it.

It’s all marketing some do it better than others. Buffalo trace is a brand that has been using hype for years. Is it good sure but it’s certainly not worth over msrp ever. What I don’t like is if you get a bottle that you think is good and it turns out to be hot garbage. Has happened a few times and why I really don’t fall for FOMO which I believe most liquor companies use in their marketing goals. Hype sells and once it gets going it’s not easy to stop it. I do believe that the majority of the push for BT is dominated by new drinkers who are falling for the hype and marketing behind this product. I know many that tried it and said really that’s it and then go in a totally different direction with bourbon and whiskey. Hope you have a wonderful New Year. Enjoy!!

For me with higher end products, I try it and if I like it I buy it. I only read the labels for the distillery, knowing I prefer some over the other. All of the marketing hype is for the majority of casual drinkers that will read a label and say that sounds good and buy it. They aren’t targeting folks like you with that label, well except the makers one. I have been super impressed with the Makers higher end offerings I have been trying recently.
