You know the best paid highest skilled trades are union? Highly liberal organization 😂 Your bias ideology in politics is very destructive

and most union contractors cannot build an affordable house. Tell me that is not true.
@mikethepainter3 ай бұрын
so when you need plumbing done at your house. Do you ask for a UNION CONTRACTOR......I bet not...because you cant like every other person afford the price. Next time you have any work done ONLY request union workers.....you will be broke in a year.

@@mikethepainter lol… unions don’t usually work residential …. It doesn’t pay enough So there’s that … Cheers

@@mikethepainter You were talking about liberal home owners and the way they treat you As a union carpenter I have the exact opposite experience. The ultra rich (mostly conservative) big wigs on these multi million dollar projects walk the job site looking at us like we are scum I was working a rather large outdoor high end shopping complex . It was so large they needed two phases to complete, a little above a 10 acre site. When the first phase was complete, they built a fence and caged us in. We couldn’t patronize the coffee shop we JUST finished building to get a nice hot coffee and muffin. I cut the wire holding fence sections together went an got myself a nice hot coffee and muffin for morning break and was threatened to be fired … They didn’t want “US” mingling with their wealth customers

Sounds about right. I work part time on the weekends while I’m finishing up my doctorate degree and I make 1-2k (10-12 hour days each day) per weekend. I considered just dropping out and doing it full time, it’s just too hard to hire competent help to want to do it for my entire life. I was surprised how quickly it took off until I realized how depleted the trades are of skilled professionals.
@mikethepainter3 ай бұрын
Yea good to have that degree....But also the tradesmen are diminishing. At least the ones who can talk to people and do a good common sense job.
@mitchberning15953 ай бұрын
@@mikethepainter I know that now, the only problem was I figured that out 1 year into grad school and I don’t enjoy painting, I’m just really good at it because I’ve been doing it for close to a decade. If I went back and did it all again, I probably would have gone and got a construction job and became a home builder or remodeler. I love thinking through how everything works together to make a system that works properly, but I’m sure I’ll be happy as a physical therapist as well. I just like building systems that work well and make sense

I am a handyman, carpenter, woodworker, cabinet maker and DIY guy. I do jobs on the side outside of my day job. I'm a college instructor during the day and I live in a very liberal area in the city and have never heard anyone talk negative about trades people. Nor have they said negative things about me. In fact I get called all the time to do work because people appreciate my professionalism and knowledge and respect my skills. Maybe you feel that people don't respect you or your skills but I do not get the sense that my non-trades people colleagues and freinds ever look down on trades people. And as far as liberalism goes I think that is your bias. There are assholes all around us and it doesn't matter if they are conservative or liberal.
@mikethepainter3 ай бұрын
where I live they make LAWS that make it more impossible for trades to do their job. Total disregard for them making money or doing a good job. It is not speaking it is action taken by the liberal governments to make us work harder and make less......Gas taxes that mostly effect tradesmen that need to drive long distances. Outlawing materials Like mineral sprits and denatured alcohol. Increasing lumber taxes. Mandating solar panels on all new houses, mandating low nox AC systems, low nox water heaters, Title 24 roofs that double in cost. Increasing minimum wage wich makes it impossible for trades to hire trainees. It is not how they SPEAK......it is the action they take....All this has made cost of building a new home double. Not including the increases by the liberal government to raise permits. Dude if you are really a tradesman you need to know what they are really doing. Most builders have left CA.....because they cant make any money doing their jobs anymore. Actions are much louder than words. What do you have to respond to that?

@@mikethepainter it's not just the liberals. It's all governments, whether donkeys or elephants. The governments around the world as well as the banks and big corporations are owned by the same scumbags. Like George Carlin said 'There's a big club and you ain't in it'. Nowadays I think the Libs are dumber than the Conservs but anyone making six, seven, eight figures who thinks they're near the top of turd mountain is just drowning in shit. In my experience in life working in engineering, education and the trades the more people focus on money and position, the sadder, more lonely and more foolish they become. Thanks for the vids Mike. You're the best!
