The commendable service to the nation by officers like Major Dias who faced the dangers in the front lines rather than staying in Colombo has been betrayed by the politicians primarily by the Rajapakshe clan. Their corruption and mismanagement has reopened the path to separation due to the bankrupt economy. It is unfortunate that influential people who are now concerned about reemergence of 13A did not oppose or realized corruption and mismanagement by politicians (and officials) will lead to this (They simply kept quite or even may have participated in corruption for personnel gain). SL barely avoided break up thanks to people like Major Dias and war heroes who gave their lives (mainly rural youth). Now all these sacrifices have been wasted and it is very likely that bankrupt SL has no option but to give 13A. Once it is established NE will develop very fast helped by diaspora and the better work ethics of the northern people. In a way it is the human history, hard working and less corrupt communities (North) overtaking lazy and corrupt communities (South). The unbelievable fact is after all these failures , the corruption, law breaking (even by police and judges) , thuggery, indecent behaviors etc etc are still going on to this very date unabated.
