I feel the same way about the China bike seats, I've had 2 now and both seats were very good. The Lifan 200cc is a very capable engine and it surprised me as well. Nice video!

I have 2400 miles on mine so far. Recently, I put an aftermarket exhaust on it with the baffle out and took out the air intake snorkel, I feel a ton of difference in power. The one thing I don't like about this bike is the dash being on the tank so I often have to look down.

What exhaust did you get and where did you get it? Price? Also important question; was it direct mount or did you have to improvise? Thanks!

I bought one a few months ago and then winter hit, first time rider, I drove it around the block a few times and got semi-comfortable on it. I’m nervous about driving in traffic, knowing how to approach stop signs/ stop lights / downshifting ect.. great video though! Very nice!

Congratulations on the new KPM! Keep at it, and maybe look for a local motorcycle class if you want to build confidence fast. If not, only time on the seat and feet on the pegs will give you more confidence, but it will come! Thanks for stopping by and be safe!

helpful video, and thanks!! May I ask...why not have chosen a KP200 or a KPR200? Somehow, having those silly straps on the tank ruins the looks for me. Maybe if one twined some grocery bags through them, they'd be helpful? :-) The KPR200 looks more aero, but I don't know if the riding position is too "racy" for comfortable around-town riding. The KP200 looks like a more-modern "naked" bike than the KPM. Sweet machines, though I wonder why some of your commenters tell of an upcoming upgrade model, but the Lifan website says nothing of that??? Happy trails!

I just got mine a week ago! It's a very capable bike so far. A new set of tires will be 1st for me. Scrambler style dual sports. Love the bike, I got the white

Exactly. High fuel mileage and a big gas tank = great scrambler, gravel road riding! WAY more capable than a Grom and better comfort for $2000 LESS!

Hey Keith! Hope you've been well! Seems as though the KPM made a great first impression. I know you took it on a 1,000 mile weekend ride just before the weather really turned cold here in NYS. I am wondering how you are feeling about the bike now after spending more time with it. Also, there has been news that Lifan is introducing a new engine for this bike as well as styling that will be more of a cafe racer. The engine will be used on other Lifan bikes as well. Again, your comments are always appreciated and respected!

I'm sad that I ran out of time this year to put more miles on it, but grateful that we had a beautiful fall season to ride! From someone who has been riding motorcycles for around 40 years, I have gone full circle. Meaning that I started young with low powered enduro/duel sport style motorcycles (around 1983) and grew into the bigger 2 stroke dirt bikes, then into the larger street bikes of the time (KZ750, CBRs, etc). Now I find myself with a real appreciation for the smaller, simpler bikes, to explore and have adventures with family. The KPM fits this narrative perfectly, and I can't wait until next season to put more miles on it. Now, I have to say that power/speed expectations must be managed here, but the KPM has been everything I hoped for in a small bike and just plan fun to ride! Thank you for stopping by and I hope my content has been helpful in some small way.

@@dualsportjourney HEY Keith! Here's a link to the guys from Bikes n Beards/SRK Cycles: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z361l4CBnseqq5I They did fender deletes, etc on two of these bikes, put some Shinko 244s on, and took them off road! Looks like a lot of fun; although, a bit abusive! Just nice to know how tough and versatile the Lifan KPM 200 is. Thanks again for your content on this and other great "Chonda" bikes!

@@MichaelWhite-cx4ho Thanks for the link. I did see this video before I bought the KPM. I had thoughts of possibly doing something similar but decided to not go to that extreme. I still may machine new front fender mounts to raise the fender and change out the tires for the Shinko 244, just to make the bike a bit more versatile for the roads I like to ride. Thanks again!

I recently order this bike from Orion Powersports online. When it arrived it was immediately giving a check engine light flash indicator related to the oxygen sensor. The battle that I'm having now is getting parts to do the repair myself. The downside is the distributor will only send parts to an authorized dealer, and the closes one to me is 98 miles. It's a fun bike to ride, but if parts start going bad, you may find yourself between a rock and a hard play like me.
@dualsportjourney
@dualsportjourney Жыл бұрын
That's a real shame! You should start a thread on "China Riders Forum"! Great folks there and if anyone can help, you will most likely find them there. I know some distributers and importers are on there as well. Hope to see you over there and thanks for stopping by!

What is the actual height on this things seat? I’m getting two different numbers from the venom company and the Lifan company. I have to be flat footed to balance the bike (leg injury) and I am 5’ 5.5” do you think I can sit flat footed? I’m dying to get this bike, but I’m worried about shifting and getting to be flat foot at a stop
@dualsportjourney
@dualsportjourney Жыл бұрын
I have never measured it, but all the info I've seen states "30.7 inches". I've always just assumed a 31" seat height to make it simple. The shock will compress some when you sit on it lowering it even more, depending on your weight. I'm not 100% sure if it will meet your needs, but its certainly one of the lowest street bikes I've ridden. Wish I could be more helpful. Thank you for stopping by!

It would be close, but I think you could make this work. I know someone who is 5'0" and they could barely touch the ground on the KPM200.

6500 rpm seems like it’s screaming to me
@dualsportjourney
@dualsportjourney 2 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, the widely excepted "cruising" RPM for a given engine is approximately half the RPM at which the engine makes peak power. The KPM has a listed max power of 12.5KW / 8000 RPM (and a "red line" indicator at 10,000 RPM). So I can completely understand how some may feel that 6500 RPM is a bit excessive for a cruising RPM. I personally feel comfortable in this range, but we will see if there are long term effects. Thank you for stopping by!

@@dualsportjourneysubscribing to see how the journey goes, especially with the new version aka Model.2 coming out, I hear it’s almost the exact configuration so you can put that newer motor in the older model

Bike engines don't work like car engines when it comes to cruising. 6500rpm at a (supposed*) 60-65mph is actually very respectable and not very crazy, especially for a single *cheaper bike speedos are almost NEVER accurate and often overread. He was prob going closer to 55-58mph or so
