You should put amazon links to your equipment. You did while the bike is still new? How many miles did it have on it when you did this?

I NEED HELP! I have ridden dual sport 2 stroke bikes for for 15 years and need help breaking out of the category! I started with a ke100, then ke175 now I own a couple dt175s one built and quite stout and I plan on keeping them. I live in a rural area and want a mid sized bike for longer travel and a bit more comfort without sacrificing the zesty spice from an engine. I was thinking zx4rr but the roads including main roads are rather tough in my area, I was thinking adv like a Himalayan but I’m concerned it won’t corner well on better maintained paved roads and isn’t powerful enough. The triumph speed 400 looks a tad small and I’m considered about reliability and power. This bike intrigues me but I don’t know if it will be zesty enough, your review showed that it will be just fine for normal everyday riding and the suspension seems adequate for my riding area as well as the legendary reliability that comes with a honda. This middle category is vast and has me lost, any input would be much appreciated!

I'm about to turn 78 and don't drive any more, had a 305 Scrambler in the 60s, and if I could drop 20 years I'd have this bike. My heart went out to it as soon as I saw it. I don't envy today's youth for much, but this.....

I appreciate your video a lot. I decided that I'm going to purchase this bike and it will be my first bike as well. Some of my friends that ride say that a 500 will be underpowered, and I will grow out of it quick. For the type of riding that I want to do, which is small town back roads and low speed highways. I think this is the perfect answer. I also like this style more than the standard cruiser or street bike.

There definitely will be more aftermarket items for this bike because they're going to sell a lot of them. I had a CL305 in the 60's and this is the first bike that extinguishes my nostalgia for it. Thanks for the useful review.

I must have missed the oil change. I came from a KLR 650, which has numerous oil change videos actually showing changing the oil. On the kickstand? Bike level? Exactly how much oil to pour? Drain plug removal? To someone only talking about doing an oil change on my new bike, the SCL500? How quickly time flies when you are just showing what is needed and not actually doing anything. Sorry, but this video needs a title change.

How's the seat for longer stints in the saddle. I just sold a bike a loved but after three seats I gave up. I had a Triumph Scrambler that was very comfortable because of the bench seat.

When you loosen the bolt, the right plate is freely moving back and forth therefore the indicator marks are useless. How do you know what is your setting precisely?

I like the 6 gears & being air cooled.... Ohh, price as well but I'm afraid my intent for using it 80% on roads and no way around the use of the Interstate, I might need to see if the 300 can better serve my needs? I do like her. peace

I've got 10-11 dual sport bikes I'm researching & I mean all the MOD's -n- Costs on them, what benefits, and even the order I'd want to do them. Post purchase costs are hardly ever considered but I'm so poor that I'm doing all of this while I save. The KLX wasn't on my list early on but I've discovered for the price it's worthy of a good look so I'm here visiting you. What I've learned is that if you put all 11 bikes I've listed into a Draw & picked one out & it would be my choice ; I'd be fine with it. That said, any of the Japanese bikes would probably last a life time & the only needs would be tires, foot-pegs, and regular maintenance type stuff. The big bikes I'm looking at are the KLR650, DR650, Honda 650L, 500x, and 2 450's, DRz400 down/down to the Honda150L. They are all being looked at & top of my list is the DRz400, Honda Rally 300L. But I'd be happy w/ a Yamaha XT250 & I've got a good idea about all these, short comings, costs for most needed stuff. This KLX was a late entrant but I've kinda seen that most of these would do & I could make them work just fine due to so many great videos by numerous channels. The KLX has made it up to my 2nd choice list but the importance of what all I've done in researching all of these is I know most of what to look for wrong in each, along w/ most good mods and all this will help should I buy a used bike...... plus I've met alot of people. I've not ridden in over 30 yrs which is part of the reason I'm not against a smaller weight bike. But this KLX300 has caught my attention & it'll be early winter before I can afford much. Thanks for the video & I'll be looking at other vids you did. peace

I don't know why this is called a "beginner" motorcycle because it's all most people would ever need as a casual rider who wants a bike to kick around town and take on some dirt roads and across fields. Outside of the USA, this bike (meaning mostly in Asia) is not considered small and low power. But in the country of overkill on everything, it's considered a "beginner" bike.

I have a 22 SE just like it only blue instead of red version. Will roll over the 10,000 mile mark on the next ride. Mostly gravel roads and county blacktops. 55-60 all day long. 65 pretty well. 70 or above full throttle 95% of the time. I am 70 years old. 180# 6'2". Flat road 72 mph top speed. With tail wind or down hill rev limiter at 76 so 75 top speed for a smallish person. Great, easy to ride bike. I also have a Honda CRF450RL that I also love. But I ride the 230 twice as much. Rides easy as falling off a log. Get a Seat Concepts seat.

Really appreciate this video. I’ve been the most curious as to how it would fare on the interstate. I think you’ve set my mind at ease in that respect. The biggest complaint I’ve heard about this bike is that the display is very hard to see. Curious as to what you think of it in different lighting conditions, etc. after riding this bike for awhile. Thanks.

I had one of these type of Chinese made red bikes. I paid almost 3 grand with assembly. Boy did i get ripped off. That thing at total redline maybe 40 or 45. Thats it. I literally gave it away. I just recouped my money on a new battery. A buddy of mine gave it to his kid. ABOUT THE BIKE......AS FOLLOWS it was i think 6 HP. seat sucked, all the plastics were like 20 year old plastic that would crackle up just from looking at it. I mean it would just break and crack for no reason. Fuck me !!!!! it would do a whellie if you redlined it and snapped the clutch loose, maybe. Extreamly cold natured. If it was 60 degrees, it would take 20 minutes to be able to ride. No kidding

The dealer and the manual said my new 24 Rebel wouldn't need a chain adjustment until first service at 600 miles. At 250 miles in my chain was out of spec at around 2 inches of play. There's no way they should be telling people to not worry about it for 600 miles.
