I usually have this admin days, a week before every semester, like it's a way to put in order my life before the chaos of class. But once I have to have almost a week of admin, since I was going to travel to another country, I felt so little when i was doing the official documents, but it felt great since I was able to do all this "adult procedures" by myself.

I studied abroad in Spain for a year back in 2013! While I was there I used an Amex, but it wasn't accepted at a lot of places. For banking, a lot of my classmates chose to get banks there. I ended up setting up a Charles Schwab checking account before I left the US because they reimbursed for any ATM fees and didn't charge exchange fees. I never had a problem using it anywhere. Hope that helps! :)

Really needed a video like this to get my life together, thanks so much! Also, I just wanted to add, I studied abroad in France for a year, and it's definitely worth it to open a bank account in your host country. I needed one to get a student metro card (I saved at least 300euros as opposed to getting a monthly metro card and the student metro card came with perks/discounts). There were also no fees transferring money between my us account to my French account. Anyway--I'm sure you've got it all figured out, you are way more prepared than i ever was before I went abroad. Please be EXTRA careful with the conditions if you decide to open a bank account in Spain. I'm spanish, I live in Madrid, and most of them try to charge you for literally EVERYTHING. Look for the ones that have special conditions for young people and don't require that you stay in that bank for a certain amount of time.
