Long time subscriber, I would get home from my shit job and actually watch your videos and it would cheer me up, probably without realizing it you became a part of all of our lives, a form of family in a way. What you are going through is nothing negative, it feels it but it is not, we are all capable of falling apart and feeling worthless, You are not alone, none of us are truly alone, Take your time, become when ready.

Good to see you on the other side @Shinichi. I'm honored that you have shared your struggle with me / us. I appreciate that you still show up in spite of your personal struggles. There are many who suffer in silence and that can lead down a path of destruction. There is a lot going on in the world. Lots of suffering and injustice, however there is also LOVE, LIGHT, JOY, LAUGHTER, KINDNESS and COMMUNITY. I continue to hold a space of these for you and Satoshi. Continue one day at a time. Keep showing up for yourself first and foremost. That allows you to show up for those that truly matter in your life. Big Hugs. 🙏🫂❤

Dear Satoshi, thank you for cooking all the meals while Shinichi is slowly rebuilding his soul, mind and body. He needs pampering. When I make bolognese, I use half a cup of Merlot and a tablespoon of brown sugar to balance the acidity from all the tomatoes. I sometimes add chopped leafy greens towards the end of the cooking time, just to get as much greens into every meal as possible. My prayers are with you.

The body and the mind remember past traumatic events, sometimes we don't notice the shift in our selfs. How you feel is valid, let yourself feel and process those feelings, then give yourself compassion through this difficult time. Sometimes something inside of us just wants to be understood, but the emotions are just very powerful.

Over the last year I had struggles walking I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and basically my spine was squeezing my spinal cord. Pain shots and physical therapy did not help. I finally went to a surgeon and he gave me a laminectomy. ( the remove a piece of your spine, that finned piece on top of l4/5 ). Scary to have that surgery but after months of rehab the pain is gone. I do have some nerve damage so I need to use a cane and j am still working on my gait and balance but I have gotten so much better. I am jealous of being able to just walk like I used to but I am happy to be able to walk at all.

You're really helping so many people. Thank you. I still sleep a lot but it's different than before. I'm sleeping well, and I'm just not as "inert". My prayers for you to have a lot of positive health.

Hi boys! Brother Shinichi, I’m so happy to see you smile! I love your walks through your neighborhood. I’m especially happy that you got lots of rest and are out and about. I sent you a private message with the dates that Josh, Akina (my niece), and I will be in Japan. I just Googled the distance between your area and where we will be staying and it shows 30 minutes. Oh my gosh! The price of your cabbage…. Crazy! Our eggs have gone up in price, because of Avian flu. I just paid almost $11.00 for one dozen yesterday. I noticed the sign for the large package of Kirkland paper towels (3625 Yen), at your unmanned neighborhood Costco products store. That’s definitely more that what we pay out here for the same exact thing. Hee hee brother Satoshi….. I always love the banter between you both. Your bolognese looked amazing!! Please take care! Thank you for sharing your day with us. Love you! ❤❤

That _was_ a good day! Going outside and keeping active, doing things that interest you, working some, resting some, eating well with someone you love (Satoshi's Bolognese sauce looked _delicious!_ )--all positive, proactive things. Losing mobility has been the worst for me, and I love to see you both making use of those good, strong legs! 😊 I also love your aromatherapy with candles and soaps (I do that too). You're forging ahead, Shinichi-san, day by day. Mad respect and much positive energy, love, and hugs. You are two of my favorite people. ❤❤

I'm glad that you are on the road to feeling even a bit more mentally whole. I've been having a such tough time myself staying positive and motivated these past few months, especially since it's hard for me to ignore the horrible events in the US. But I'm slowly forcing myself to do what's right for me and my loved ones day by day, even though it feels like swimming through a waterfall at times. No more しょうがない in 2025. 🐍 I enjoy seeing you and Satoshi doing mundane things, with such a warm and loving manner towards each other. Hopefully my husband and I can walk around in Japan and enjoy a bit of calm like you all, later this year. 🤗Please take care, both of you.

Having someone support, understanding and giving space to breathe is very precious, glad you have someone like that. We all have moments of darkness. But I like to remind myself that stars shine brighter when it's dark. Take the moments of low to get grounded again put your feet in the sand, grass or water feel the moment. Then look up, through the darkness see the light there just above the hole u might feel your in. Then reach your arms high and breathe. Reaching out allows those around u to pull u up and out of the dark. You will fly again. But take time for your wings to heal. You got this. Rooting for you all the way from South Africa.

I feel your dark place and acknowledge it, been in one myself for many years and I fight to not let it take over and as you know that’s hard! One day at a time is how I live. Working 6 days a week to just pay my bills don’t help but it is what it is and my age and health don’t make it easy to find a different job. I made changes for my health I gave up sugar and most carbs and recently found out in April the people I work for are selling the store..hopefully the new owners will keep me on, I will have to say I am an amazing employee I help with several different departments and know how to run them all so this news isn’t helping my mental health but I will be ok!

I'm so happy to share this Earth with good people like you. Oh btw, I love getting to watch the view with you from your balcony. I wish I had a view of the rest of my city from my house. Hello Shinichi, Thank you for your courage in speaking out about your mental health. Your decision is helping others in similar situations, especially those without anyone to trust, like myself. Strong support from loved ones or a community is crucial before anything else-whether it's medicine, health requirements, or tips and tricks. I have met someone who has been a savior to my mental well-being, enabling me to change effectively. Despite seeing numerous therapists and trying medication, nothing helped because I knew I had to search for the answers myself. Cultural beliefs can also play a part in keeping everything inside our minds, but DON'T do that. Satoshi is there for you! I am in my early 30s and have been dealing with complicated family problems. I have been in the dark my whole life. The thought of not living in this world started when I was a young child and progressed to feeling trapped and wanting to be set free every day. I was just like you, having a mental breakdown and thoughts of ending my life in my 20s until a year and a half ago. The feeling of not being able to continue and that nothing would work was overwhelming. What started to change for me was going back to school and focusing on improving my education last year. By spring, I had taken six different psychology courses! I have been learning a lot, finding answers to my questions, and building a foundation for all the "whys" I had bottled up. I also realized that dedicating just 15-30 minutes to exercise helps lessen my stress, which causes things like depression and anxiety. Pilates really helps, and you will feel physically and mentally improved from your first class. You might become addicted! :) I am nowhere close to being healed from my mental troubles, but I am making my way there! I still have low days, but it's a journey of steps. There will be a day when you feel and know you have made another step closer to healing. I rarely comment on KZbin or social media, nor do I try to offer advice to others because we are all going through something difficult. But you and Satoshi have created a wonderful community, and I wanted to share my experiences and let you know I am on the same journey as you. You CAN overcome this period of your life because you have already started. Nothing will EVER be worse than how you felt in your last video! I agree with what you said about eating different cuisines to learn about a place because that's exactly what I do! I am not academically smart, but I can retain the story when I enjoy a cuisine from a place. I have learned a lot about Japan and Hawaii from your and Satoshi's channel. My dream is to live in Hawaii, but I think it will be hard as a Canadian! I hope I can meet you guys in person someday in Hawaii or Japan. That would be INSANE!! I hope you don't mind the long message! And if you are curious, here is an article from one of my psychology classes that really helped me, and a Pilates instructor I follow who is extremely knowledgeable: -Attachment Theory www.simplypsychology.org/attachment.html -Pilates Body Raven www.youtube.com/@pilatesbodyraven We can overcome our own troubles, my friend. - Love, Richelle

I often wear my coziest coat inside. The studio might be 72F but I just sometimes need the comforting feeling of a coat. A lot of us have been where you are. After a breakdown years ago, it took me along time to come out of it. I go through The Darkness every once in a while and have to be extra kind to myself when that happens. Good coffee, a comfortable bed in which to get some sleep, time outside in the fresh air, being with my dogs, and having a meal with friends are all things that can pull me up out of that dark place. Do what you need to do to help yourself come back.

Thankyou again for sharing and great to see you are a little better. One day at a time is the best way. I loved seeing the peaceful residential streets, like you mentioned Hawaii, where my partner and I live in Liverpool England it wouldn't be safe to out walking of a night, so it is lovely to see such a nice neighborhood. That food looked good too! We loved walking around the small streets in arashiyama when we last visited Kyoto 😊 We are hoping to take a belated honeymoon in Japan later this year. I hope you have many more good days than bad as you heal. Sending many well wishes and wishing you lots of rest and recovery.

I hope you're feeling better. One of my favorite things to do in Tokyo is just walk around while listening to music or podcasts so I really enjoyed your walk.

So good to see you smiling. More of these walking vlogs please. Also, the bolognese looks legit! By the way, what is the brand of matcha that you have?

Greetings Shinichi, wishing you well from Canada. I can relate to your story having gone through my own mental health struggles 5 years ago. Life will carry you through, and Satoshi will be there too. Keep your health your number one priority, all else will work itself out as it is meant to be. Thanks to you both and the inspiration you have provided me, I am now studying Japanese in preparation for my first trip to Japan for the month of September 2025. Take good care of yourselves.

When your down and out a bit, then actually you are lucky. Because the only way on is up! I know it, because I've been there myself multiple times. It is also very nice to have Satoshi around. Loved the stroll through the neighborhood and the shops. It's a different selection than we have, so I would love to see it one day for myself. Hopefully you will feel better when spring starts to have its effect.

Great video. Loved the home cooked meal at the end - it just inspired me to actually turn on my stove for the first time in many months and boil pasta for a quick dinner mixed with microwaved frozen vegetables, quality canned tuna in chilli oil, olive oil, chilli sauce and dashi powder! Keep up the positive vibes. Best wishes from Australia ❤❤❤
