Honestly I took the marketing route and they don’t really care if you’ve had internships in marketing or not. All that matters is if you have the skills and experience. My company didn’t have a strong marketing department, so I asked to assist in that area and gained a TON of experience learning it all on my own. Another thing is starting your own side hustles to get experience. You don’t NEED an internship to gain experience. Take alternative pathways like volunteering for a nonprofit’s marketing department. If you go the traditional route, it will be more competitive.

Yeah well if your marketing ever made to the public because not too many see it or care to.

Internships matter it’s offensive of them to be to job experience. If you even wanted to invest into your marketing knowing people can’t stand to ever even see it on their phones

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! Not a lot of current college students understands the type of pressure they will go through after graduating. So by you speaking about your experiences it helps them understand more some of things to expect and maybe prepare for.

I compleeeetteellllyy relate. I'm 23 and I just graduated with a BA in psych and barely any work experience. Thought I wanted to go for nursing school after getting the degree, but thankfully after an internship at a hospital I realized it wasn't for me. And it just really sucks having to switch paths postgrad. I also have been dealing with feeling like a failure, my roommate landed a job at Google and my little sister recently landed an internship and it is super hard not to compare myself to them especially when I'm completely unsure of what I want to aim for lol Gah overall thanks for making this video it oddly felt validating to watch loool, makes me feel less alone. Also it's helpful to be reminded that a growth mindset is truly crucial at this time! :) I just subbed I'm looking forward to seeing more content from you!

You aren't a failure! You got your degree and you definitely have the skills for your dream job. Hey Lauren! I’m 26 and graduated college in 2017 too with a BA in psych and I feel for you so much. Although we aren’t that much different in age gap I can tell that your generation is highly competitive and loves to talk about their success because they feel it equates to their value as a person in this competitive job market. Your generation is on a whole new different ballgame of competitiveness... I just wanted to let you know that it’s okay to take some years off and decide what you like. We should normalize the adulthood when we’re 27+ and not 21 when we’re straight out of college because our world dynamic shifted dramatically since the 1950s (I state 1950s cause our education system structure hasn’t changed since the 1950 when we went to school to work for corporations for the rest of our lives) our life isn’t like that anymore and the most dramatic catalyst that showed us is Covid-19 where everyone shifted from their usual way they have to work. With this huge shift in the way people work from home, I am positive that somehow our peoples attitudes change with that too :) if you wanna talk about it feel free to hmu.

Loved this video and you being so honest about the post grad life. I see that you haven’t posted in a while, but if you ever wanted to post a life update video or anything you’ve learned from graduating college until now, I would really love to watch it. But no pressure if you don’t want to share more on KZbin, I completely understand.

I respect her. She's open-minded to realize that your destiny is your own problem. 1. Your degree is your choice. If you choose a domain with a lot of people already in it (psychology, arts, history), of course your life will be harder. Supply and demand, a simple rule, this is how life works. It is not unfair. We all want the best options, you as well, so better be sure you are GOOD in what you do, or you are unemployed. But if you are great, you are golden. 2. All the market, people and firms care about is what you can do, not your degree. Nobody cares about a paper, people want value. Can you bring value? We don't care about your college years and how interesting it was. If we want something interesting we buy a book. Can you do something we can't do and care about a lot? If you choose with your heart, great for you, but your are paid on what you produce. If you also love it, great, but if you just love it and others don't need it, make them need it or choose another thing. 3. Your debt is also your problem. Really. Nobody obligated you to sign it and to learn 4 years on a subject. If you choose it, you need to know what are your opportunities after, what do you do? What will be in need? Again, engineers, doctors, law people don't have a problem with this (again, if they are good). What was/is your plan? If you entered this it means you have a solid plan in which you can give value to other people, not just dreams. Show it and you are good! 4. Your experience is again you trouble. Who says you can't get a job while you study? Summer is not just for losing time. The ones that are good find work, I assure you of that. So make experience before you finish or accept less pay. Again I'm not going to teach you and also pay you the same as somebody who does not need teaching. Would you do that? This is how a company thinks. Be proactive, be the best, don't lose your time and I am sure you will do great! The good ones have the best, others have the rest. Simple rule of life.

Your view on dating needs to change, all men want sex, don't lie to yourself. We are horny all the time, doesn't mean most men can't control their urges though. The more effort you put into relationships, the more you'll get out of those relationships, just like in life. Plus you're attractive and clearly smart, you shouldn't have any problem dating. Hang in there and life does get better. I graduated in 2009, believe me, shit was tough then haha, I'm talking no one was hiring. So if I got through that, you can get through this, you'll be fine and keep doing your best in everything you do!
