You guys remind me of myself at age 22 moving to NYC after fashion school. I am now in my 30’s. Everything you two said is accurate! 🤣🤣😂. One thing that kept me working was signing up with as many headhunters as possible (4th floor, jbc styles, 24Seven name it). My resume is longgggg but guess what, I gain so many skills that I did not gain in school and till this day it helps me. I even interned for as low as $12 an hr as a graphic designer bc I wanted to learn a new skill. After learning I dipped! And found a full time job as a Cad Artist doing prints. So I went from drawing flats to doing prints/production artwork. Now I will tell you this which is the hidden secret in this industry. CAD/print designers make $$$$$$. All you do is make prints. If you don’t know how to do it, take a course and heck! There is KZbin university now. I dislike when these companies try to make you do the tech packs, be a designer and more, but pay less. That’s doing 3 People’s job. If you just starting out DO IT! Then dip! And find a new job with those skills getting way more pay. Good luck guys.

Can you do a video on networking and how to create relationships and keep in contact
@bxttercxup59514 жыл бұрын
This maybe a stupid question but I have a lot of ideas in my head but I have a hard time getting it on paper so do you have any tips to help with that?
@Paolachenriquez4 жыл бұрын
Try doing a mind dump! Where you just journal out all of your ideas (it doesn't matter if they're incomplete) and then you can take step back with a clearer mind and review all of the ideas in front of you.

Hey i have a question, I’m applying to fit, fashion design and one of the parts is to submit sketches of garments I have created, can I add in on the garments the brand name I want to create? Will it look bad for people grading it or should I leave branding for later on?
@callista64213 жыл бұрын
no don’t add branding

Your videos have been so helpful to me, Thank you so much! I was wondering, did you and Melanie get your bachelors at FIT or just the associates? and which would you recommend from your personal experience? I’m not from New York and the out of state tuition is expensive, I don’t know if going for all 4 years will be worth it.
@Paolachenriquez4 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Yes Melany and I both got our bachelors there. And it depends on your major. FIT Only accepts certain transfer credits so look at what you need and what can transfer. I would recommend you try to take a few gen eds at your community college. However, double check with someone from registrar.

your video was so helpful! but i was wondering how you guys paid for FIT when you attended and if you are still paying off your loans if you did take any out? i was accepted as a transfer student but sadly and i am out of state and didn’t even realize how expensive it would be, as i thought i would be able to get more financial aid.
@ken12ken1224 жыл бұрын
also do you think it’s worth going to FIT if you have to take out a lot of loans?
@saramember13144 жыл бұрын
hey! i’m thinking of transferring to fit bc it is one of the cheaper options out there and the education and experiences are super good!! it’s definitely up to you at the end of the day if you want to invest in it or if you’d rather look for something else :) but i would say that for its quality, it’s price is definitely worth it
@ken12ken1224 жыл бұрын
Sara Lorelle it’s cheap if your in state but out of state it’s very expensive considering everything. I agree it’s a great school and would be worth it but considering my financial situation it wouldn’t be worth taking out so much loans
