I am back on KZbin after several months offline. Losing my little brother Llŷr to mental health has been the hardest thing I could ever have imagined. I want to share with you how I have been and what has happened since being offline.
Throughout this time you have all been so kind and supportive of me, I am so grateful for all the messages and love I have received from you all. We truly have an incredible community both on here and on instagram. I feel incredibly lucky and I know that you have my back moving forward.
Taking time to reflect on what has happened and focus on my family as well as myself has been so important. It is now time to focus on making a difference, I want to see a 'Mental Health Toolkit' in all schools and universities and that mental wellbeing becomes a core part of the educational curriculum. I know this can be made a reality, with your help and support. I will update you all in due course.
I have set up a donation page with the hope of raising £15,000 for mental health charities. If you would like to donate here is the link, thank you.

@@belfastwhatsapp similar to my son, who is now 22. Mental health services are very bad indeed. Try to stay strong, and let those that are able to be there for you give their help and support. Also, look into charities near you that often offer counselling. Contact Mind, the mental health charity, who will be able to point you in the right direction. Speak to your GP too. I hope you are able to get the help you need so you can be well again very soon.

@@jacquelinesherlock2274 I've had the cbt which actually done nothing to improve but might benefit other people..I used to take a drug called blues/diazepam when I was 21 which helped quite alot but doctors dont prescribe them as they are addictive so ii bought them on the street just and they where a life saver but I haven't took them from them and just struggle through it everyday and put on a strong and happy face...hope your son gets better

@@belfastwhatsapp CBT can be great for helping with the day to day symptoms, but it doesn't really do anything to help with the cause of the symptoms. If you think about the cause of your problems, whether abuse of any kind, bullying, family mental ill health, or outside psychological influence on you, then I am sure you will find a charity who have trained psychotherapists working with them that would be able to offer you proper counselling. 💙

Sadly school taught us nothing to set us up for adult life. They should be teaching how to handle our emotions, our responsibility to others in society, how to motivate ourselves, how to budget so we can manage our expenses, the consequences of debt, work life balance and a whole lot more useful tools to manage life. Your loss must be unbearable 😟 Thinking of you and your family. 💙

I’m a welfare officer in a primary school and the amount of kids with mental health issues is astonishing. I fully support the work you are doing on this. It’s personal for me too, I have dealt with mental health issues since I was 14 (I’m 30 now) and I really appreciate you advocating for young people, as this wasn’t around when I was 14. People who have a platform like you make all the difference. My husband has also had a lot of struggles and has gone to some really dark places. I’m sorry about your brother, but may his legacy help others still trying to fight. Thank you.

Bless you x I wanted to share that sometimes this loss happens also even when someone is still alive- and its never talked about and should be..i grew up severely neglected and abused from day 1 onwards by a single mother whom has DID and is very narcissistic and a gaslighter. Life was about surviving, never living. Since i had my kids ive been diagnosed with autism( which i could have done with support with as a child) and complex ptsd and dissociative seizures due to my trauma. 7 years ago i felt the need to separate my life from that of my mother in order to begin to mentally heal..tried contact last year but alas mother is too narcissistic so last month i made the incredibly hard decision to completely break all further contact with her forever. I need my strength as i raise and homeschool my two autistic children. Somehow knowing she is still alive keeps the severe pain and loss alive..there's no 'closure ' as usual loss has. Its so sore it hurts in my chest. But im sharing cause no one talks about this scenario..and yet it happens to many ..How to navigate having to let go? Im still struggling to accept it. Any tips or experiences you have please make a video..it may benefit many. Take care you are doing sooo well.😀

I remember when I lost my mum, one of my next door neighbours met me getting out of the taxi and said "I don't know what to say." and I replied "In saying that, you've said everything." So, I don't know what to say. Mental health has such a stigma and needs to be talked about more, not hidden. At the beginning of the video, I was thinking that you also need to look after your mental health and then you said the very same thing. You will always love your little brother, love doesn't end when you lose someone, (I was also glad to hear you correct yourself to this affect.) Take care, look after yourself and also, be kind to yourself. Huge hugs, (VERY socially distanced), hunny. Look forward, when you're ready to seeing you're new content. ❤

I’m so sorry for your loss Alex! I can’t even imagine what you are experiencing. Please don’t feel any pressure to be back so early, however if you feel ready just know that you aren’t alone and we’re all so proud of the amazing work that you do. You are a breath of fresh air in this world and I’m sending you and your family love and strength. May your younger brother’s soul rest in peace.

I honestly can't even begin to imagine the pain of this it's absolutely awful. Mental health is serious and they do not educate us in schools enough and something needs to change. I'm so so sorry about your brother Alex. We're all here for you and will support you in absolutely everything. We recently this year had a sixth former loose their battle to mental health which impacted so many people across the school💕💙 I've always respected you so much and honoured your bravery from day 1 and it's just a whole new level. Keep blasting around in your R8 and keep yourself happy. Look after yourself and keep doing what you love. Keep busy with work and distractions to keep your mind busy. Your brother would be so proud of you for doing what you are doing to help change mental health in schools

Sending so much love to you and your family Alex. I can’t even imagine. So great that you are doing something positive with the mental health toolkit. I have two boys aged 5 and 3 and they already talk about feelings a lot in school... Schools will lap up the mental health tool kit I’m sure. I’m looking forward to it as a parent even. Take care xxxx

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been struggling with mental health for years after a traumatic experience. It comes and goes in waves, currently really REALLY struggling with all these thoughts in my head. Just hope I can get through this phase, but it’s a constant battle I wish there was a medicine for.
