Maybe both of you should link up to see if you could be of assistance. He had said they were in tents! In his channel info he has the addresses and phone numbers of the church pastors with lists of needs. They are vetting the families to make sure of what is truly needed.

Some of the poorest counties in WNC are okay and need the tourists to remember us. I’m in Cherokee County, the westernmost county in North Carolina. Our area is trying hard to let folks know we’re still open. We were to get the direct hit, but we’re only side-swiped. We think of What Could Have Been everyday. Our little airport was soooo busy the first two weeks with private pilots going out to y’all! I’m so sorry you’re going through this, and for so long! We’ve sent out a lot to our neighbors and will continue to do so until everyone is okay! Thank you got updating us. I’ve worried about you!

I respect everything you are doing. Your video just popped up today. One piece of advice for laundry. If you can get a toilet plunger, pump it up & down in your bucket. It will agitate your clothes and save your hands for wringing the water out. Many off gridders use the bucket method for washing their clothes. God bless you!

Sage, I just found your channel today and I just want to tell you how remarkable you are, you're like a pioneer woman, taking on so much , and doing it well. I have been trying my hand at permaculture, and know it's not easy....sooo much to learn. I am a wood worker/ furniture maker and three weeks ago delivered my first pieces to the Grovewood Gallery there in Asheville.....not exactly good timing, but, I'm currently trying to figure out if I can make a contribution in helping rebuild some of the hard hit areas. I'm in Knoxville, so just getting there now is a challenge. One last thing, during times like these just showing up and being kind is huge, your good heart is creating more energy than you know, keep the faith good days are ahead, much love.❤️

Why? People with businesses are hurting. This whole stay away thing is for places like where we live and are lucky enough to have a little Wi-Fi. Different places like where my friends live west of us like in Murphy are fine. They need the leaf viewers so they can continue to send aid to us! Think before you post. I am not recommending they come to the damaged areas but your pov is very short sighted.

It is inspiring to see young people realizing the importance of self-sufficiency. I volunteered in Ash County last week assisting storm victims. I left knowing that the mountain folks will be OK. They are very resilient. I was raised on a self-sufficient farm. We raised pork and chicken. My mother had a huge garden and we had meat and vegetables year round. We only had to purchase the basics, flour, sugar, etc. My dad talked about the depression years. He said there was no difference for them. Life went on as usual.

After the Cat 5 INIKI hurricane hit Kauai, we were using generators and drinking spring water for over a month. Supplies were limited and armed National Guard manned the grocery stores. It took six weeks for FEMA to organize. But in the end, the Island and the people healed, rebuilt, and persevered. Just as you will sister. Love and strength will see to that.

You can get Zoey bar laundry soap in many stores - Don't ring the clothes out after rinsing just hang them out and let the water drain out of them - If you ring the clothing out they become stiff so I just let the water drip out at night - then during the day if it's warm they dry - During winter I hang them over a wood heater to dry -

It's not hard to wash clothing by hand at all - also a washer and dryer destroys the fiber in clothing so they don't last long - Also for $1.75 I can wash many sets of heavy clothing like blue jeans - I started working in the offshore oilfields in the early 1970s - we washed are clothing offshore on rigs the way I stated - I was tired of buying washing machines 25 yrs ago - so my son's and eye washed by hand when the last washer broke -

I can understand the horrors of life, especially the people living in homes can sometimes experience during disasters, and I can relate.... We lost everything in a house fire in 1973, then suffering from the 1977 Johnstown Flood in Pennsylvania, so I understand..... In the 90's, I chose to live on the road as a Van-Camper, and not having any external power source, and no water source..... I buy meals at restaurants & at stores, and I use public restaurants, but I did tie a pot with wire to the side of my engine to warm up various canned foods where I put some water in the pot and poke a tiny hole in the canned food and place it inside the pot and it cooks while I'm driving..... and I pick up Free WiFi at restaurants, and sometimes I can pick up the signal from the parking lot, so I can stay in my van.... This kind of life has made me quite active as I am always going for long hikes in Nat'l & State parks & City parks or just walking around all the different cities & towns I visit... a Nomads life I suppose, but I sure do save so much money living in my van, and I am the better for it and to this day, I have toured & explored 49 States & 13 Canadian Provinces.

It is great you are doing so well. A week in and the recovery is progressing well. There is no magic. Fixing broken and damaged lives and infrastructure that result from a major disaster takes time and effort. Recovery is never immediate but takes months if not years of work before "normality" returns. And, that "normality" will not be like the former. The recovered towns and infrastructure will all be different in small ways, making it all new, sometimes unfamiliar. But don't be discouraged or overcome by the vastness of what needs to be done. Take each day and live it the best you are able - finding the good in everything, rejoicing at every accomplishment, and remembering to care for your animals and neighbors. This is how community is built and how we as individuals survive.

Hi, if I was a lot younger I'd buy a piece of land next to you. Lol But no worries, I'm too old for that now. But many years ago I bought a Readers Digest book that was based on a DIY kind of living. It ran the gamit on building, gardening, making candles, soap...you get the idea. I used its info many times in my life. Especially when I bought a old farmhouse with a couple of acres of land that had been allowed to over grow the property. The house was built in the late 1800's and was one of the original farms in the area with many acres that had slowly been divided and sold off, I got what was left. In my time of reclaiming the property I came across many items that were dropped and left. Also came across a few dump sites where I found coal stove parts, glass door handles and tools. It was interesting say the least, even came across rose bushes when I started to reclaim the property near the house. Unfortunately the marriage didn't work out and we sold the house. I had countless hours into the house and was sad to let it go, but such is life. I miss the life that house brought me, even the snakes that lived in the rock foundation and the little stream that would run through the basement every spring. Yeah, that was a surprise. 😲 I don't miss cutting and splitting 6+ cord of wood to help heat the place. I applaud your courage and ability to live the way you want!! Also I subscribed.

I can definitely relate 😮😮!! I live on the east coast of Florida. Beautiful area!! Born and raised here!! Still living in the same house now for 70 yrs. Seen many many things come, and go over time. Have survived the worst of the hurricanes that have hit the east coast knock on wood. My house is over 100 yrs old. Old FL home made of wood. With plywood hurricane shutters. In 2004 we got hit with 4 storms. Two from the west Coast coming across and hitting us on the east. Then two of the worst, and most devastating ive ever seen in my life here. And to beat the band , they came in the exact same place on the map . That was so strange!! Raised many red flags as to weather manipulation.. Sad but true its taking place today. So, Francis came first!! It was the storm from hell. Cat 2. But it was the one you never wished on your Worst enemy. Because as it hit shore it stalled and stayed in the same place for 14 hrs. Pounding and pounding us. Walls of tornadoes one after another. 115 sustained! Gusts to 135 mph. For 14 hrs. Being its a FL thing , we are prepared for the worst with plan A, B ,C And D in place. Plan D stands for DONE, DESTROYED, DEMOLISHED 😅😅😅😅. We must bail out for high ground and tie ourselves to pine trees. 😅😅😅😅. Thankfully we never got to plan B. Because we were so well prepared. 3 generators gas stove in house. Well water ran on generator. AC in house frige and freezer and all lights working normally. It was as comfortable as normal on a very windy day. My two brothers and our girlfriends all in the same house. That made for funny interesting conversations 😅😅😅. But a great team when needed. We rescued some guy that crawled up to our house that was blown down what was left of the road for a mile he said. He was bleeding bad from everywhere. He said every time he tried to get up and walk the wind would blow him down and then blow him across the ground until he got lodged up into the broken branches from bushes and trees. Looked like he was in a fight with two polar bears. So we were busy cleaning him up and patching holes to stop bleeding. He was loosing so much blood from deep puncture wounds. So what i use to do on my construction jobs with deep cuts is, super glue and gorilla tape. With sterilized gauze. Worked like a champ. We fed him and laid him down to rest until a cop could get out and pick him up to deliver to hospital. So finally that storm moved on and the wind stopped. We had 75 gallons of gas so we didn't have to leave to refill generators. And food was good for a month. But then about time they had got the roads put back in place from being washed away, here comes a cat 3 right in the same inlet the first one came... Hurricane Jean! That one was moving a bit faster thank god. But, it also swung a much bigger hammer ⚒️. Boy howdy!! Did it ever. Living right on the river we have no protection from trees or other homes. So we got hit with the wind as it gains speed over the water.. 135 mph sustained winds with 155 gusts. Well now the old wood house was starting to struggle in some of the highest gusts. She was flexing and whistling. Had me worried on that one. But still standing strong and tall like a proud warrior today.. The eye went right over us. Its very eary to say the least.. Looking up at sunshine and blue skies, but a mile either way its charcoal black spinning skies . Like your in a dream.. Many people die because they have no idea that 135 mph winds are right there and coming faster than you expect, at 180° from original direction. And it comes right now. No slow build up like beginning of storm. Everything snaps back the other direction. Breaking off, and goes flying. Twice as much damage on the back side of eyewall storms.. Sorry for a biography here. Lol. Memories got the best of me. A lot happened. And then a month afterwards with no power, and everyone totally exhausted!! Thats when your community really shows its strength and soul. Everyone is working together to help everyone in need. Its a beautiful thing to see. Now the hostilities and old arguments of your dog always craping in my yard goes away. You see the hearts start to shine as one. That really made me proud to be a human being. To be a part of such a great thing. Sharing , and caring brings out so much more of ourselves to the surface for us to recognize about ourselves.. its a great learning experience of getting to know ones true self. I sit here today reflecting on it all and feeling what you all are going through. There is joy in heart breaking situations if you allow yourself to see and recognize it.. Times like these are when we shine the brightest.. We are truly warriors at survival. Anyway i wish you and all your beautiful animals well. Life will return to normal soon for many. Not so soon for many more. Im praying daily for all of you and sending moneies is all i can do right now. Wish i was twenty years younger. Id be there with both hands in it. But you all be very careful on the water your drinking and the silt and muck your walking in. Go to Bear independence.com or on u tube and listen to his reports. They have been sending water samples and soil samples of to state and independent labs doing testing. Its not good. Depends on where you're at. But the help wearing the rubber boots walking in the mud said the boots were melting. The water had radiation in it because of a nuclear fuel research and development government facility in the mountains that got trashed and is in the water and soil. Youll have to listen to bears reports on his videos he describes the areas and what hes finding himself. Its not good at all. The other thing is masks. Good high quality particulate masks that catch small particles. Because when the mud dries and turns to dust its going airborne into the lungs. Prepare yourself if you must stay there.. Bear independent on u tube. Hes a high tech military guy with medical training.. I believe hes a medic along with many many more knowledgeable assets .. hes also a pastor .. Smart puppy!! Well trained. Hes also a medical trainer. He has online classes also sells medical field kits with everything youll need in cases like this. Good to have along with the training to put it to use when you called to use it . Ok good luck in them hills. Prepare for health smart situations that are coming. 😎🙏🙏🙏🙏✌️💜

Praying for y’all. Gorgeous flowers and cute cat, dogs, & sheep. What a blessing to have fresh spring water, eggs and a garden. That is so good of you to volunteer to help. I can’t imagine how stressful it is without power so long. My sister Maria’s and my dad’s were off for a week in the heat in Valdosta, Georgia where the hurricane eye was. What will you do for heat? The generator must help so much. Praying God’s peace for you. Great vlog and your hair is beautiful, btw!

I can bundle up and boil water on the stove for heat! Unfortunately I don't have a wood stove yet.

Im impressed with survival skills. I stock- up some on box/ can goods. In retrospect, for- me, it wasn't that- long without..water, lights, microwave. Long enough. I cant imagine ppl that lost whole town, though.

When I was little we would visit our grandma and great aunt in the country. They had a ringer washer on the front porch. The washer part didn't work so my great aunt would boil water on the stove and add it to the washer. She would add the soap then use a big paddle stick to stir the clothes before using the hand wringer. After this devastating event, I plan on getting the biggest pot I can afford to be able to wash my clothes in.

You must know what high carbon (greenhouse grade) plastic sheathing is. Some of this is still imported from israel. 20 feet wide and 150 feet long 6ml was $250 for me about 10 years ago. Via Cleveland Ohio. Has lasted 10 years for me here in New Hampshire. Build a frame, or the usual greenhouse frame. Rebuild from there. A trench for a latrine. Or the usual off grid outhouse. Quick and to the point. Stay home, rebuild, little by little by little. You can do it. Such beautiful flowers. It is still all there. Best wishes. 👍
