I read the horus heresy articles in the early games workshop magazines in the 90's and just recognised Sanguinius sacrafice for the emperor that made him the greatest primarch in my mind at age 10 and was a blood angels fan since then , but this narration just solidifies that belief. Its like if Lucifer hadnt turned against god , his greatest son and instead fought the forces of evil , sort of like that in a religious sense. Sanguinius truly was the angel of the emperor of mankind. I really wish Sanguinius didnt die as he truly was a force to reckon with even the forces of chaos recognised his power. If he handnt been wounded fighting the greater daemon he would have bested Horus and saved the emperor from his fatal wounding. The future would be slightly brighter thanks to the shining light of the Angel Sanguinius

On the topic of lucifer, I would have absolutely loved if the theory of sanguinius succumbing to the black rage against horus, killing him, then mortally wounding the emperor before being destroyed was true. It would just fit perfectly with the grimdark. Although sanguinius staying noble and selfless until the very end is the next best thing.

Id like to think that if Sanguinius did strike the emperor when he succumbed to the black rage and mortally wounded him that the Emperor would have forgiven his Angel and turned him into some sort of psychic entity to be called upon to guard the imperium of man from the horrors of the warp. We like to think that only in death does duty end. Well not in this case , the emperor takes your soul and sends it to the warp to fight demons of chaos in the afterlife. DUTY IS ETERNAL

There is a fan theory that people are totally misinterpreting the Tyranids focus on conquering Baal. They don't want revenge on the Blood Angels, they want the last of Sanguinius's blood to be added to the Swarm. Only known example of genetics enhanced by the Warp but not corrupted by it.

⁠@@codyvandal2860No. Birds also have a things with wings and feathers. Doesn’t make them Tzeentch spies. The Imperium as a whole also has a thing with wings. There are very stupid and poorly-argued theories that suggest Tzeentch is the reason the Imperium likes wings but that’s insanely stupid considering the stagnancy of the Imperium. The Red Thirst and Black Rage have NOTHING to do with Chaos, but are tied to two non-Chaos warp entities the people of Baal worshipped in the past. Sanguinius’ wings were very likely granted to him intentionally by the Emperor with Warp-craft. The theory that tyranids are after Sanguinius’ body is also stupid as hell since we get Tyranid POV sections in Devastation of Baal and they explicitly hate the Blood Angels for dunking on the Hivemind time after time.

Now we know Sanguinius destroyed Angron in the siege of Terra! He truly went above and beyond and took on major demons and a chaos angron, and even went to fight horus and damaging his armor even though he knew his fate. Unlike the other weak traitor primarchs he did not betray the imperium. I believe Sanguinius would have become the next Emperor when and if the current Emperor decided to move on.

How exactly would the emperor “decide” to “move on” ? Had the Horus heresy not happen the story would quite literally be over. They conquer the galaxy, humanity rules over everything and the emperor brings mankind to an eternal golden age. That’s it. Also Sanguinius absolutely HATED every second of ruling imperium secundus he wouldn’t on any circumstances accept to become emperor; in a 2010 novel in a conversation even the chaos Primarchs agreed it would’ve been Guilliman to succeed the emperor if everything went wrong for the imperium

I'm a fan of the theory that Sanguinius actually killed Horus, but when The Emperor came to the bridge, he found The Angel taken by rage and had to slay him. He obliterated Horus's soul in order to keep this secret from The Imperium, who loved The Angel.

By far my favourite primarch. However, it isn't just his seflessness, heroism and honesty that draws me in but also the opposite side of his coin. The red thirst and black rage are two deeply unholy traits he bequeathed unintentionally onto his own sons. He has the right blend of both ploar opposites of love and hate. Ultimately I want to believe he is good. His humility and kindness to all of mankind is commendable, but his empathy and regret of what his sons inherited from his gene seed is what truly resonates with me and his desperation to relieve them of his genetic curses. Sanguinius is truly special and the most inspiring of all characters in all of the 30/40K lore in my humble opinion. He is a large part of the reason why I read the novels and absolutely love 30K horus herasy novels the most. Legion of the damned is something special for those who have not read it yet, fantasticly written by Guy Hayley.
