Life...... and Death.

Hi Everyone! It’s Maya here. I’m now in Sydney, Australia. I actually will be here for a few months. I had to come because my mum's brother, my uncle, had passed away suddenly. Everybody's still very upset about it. I have never seen my mum this sad. This made me think a lot about what happened. I think we all live our lives only planning about the future and what's going to happen next.
But I feel we should also live in the moment and experience what's happening now and that some people miss out. So if we do that, then we can happily spend our lives with our loved ones and when the time comes, we will at least be a little bit happier because we got to share our happiness with them and we spend time with them.
That's very important. If you've been following my guitar journey, then you know that I was in the middle of releasing my 10,000 Days and Wings For Marie cover. Just a few months ago, I was starting to learn these and practice these two songs. But as I was doing that, I also was trying to understand the meaning of these two songs.
They have a very deep meaning. They are both about Maynard James Keenan's mother had passed away after 10,000 days being paralyzed after a stroke. Now, just last week I had released my Wings For Marie cover and this week I was supposed to do my 10,000 Days cover. And right in the middle of this musical process I was experiencing,
this happened. It just felt like the universe was trying to tell something to me and explain something. It just felt like there's a big connection between them. I've heard some people say that life is just a coincidence, but I feel they are all linked together somehow in moments like this. So I just wanted to share this with you and please, everybody live your life in the moment and don't let the bad emotions get in the way of our happiness.

I am five times your age and still struggle to remember and practice everything that you are saying here. Thanks, kiddo. I just buried my doggo and it may sound trivial, but she was a part of my family for nearly 17 years. Plus, I am now at a moment when old age and weakness start to affect my close ones, I'm practically living with a lighter version of Maynard's 10000 days mum situation. I try to live in the moment and am quite good at it (partially thanks to Maynard's lyrics), but it's harder to remember this when neccessary and when you suffer. So thanks for reminding me. You are clutch.

Dear Maya, Jem from CVMD, first time on your YT channel, as it has only been 10 days since you came in to our lives. Your first strike on those strings, I knew right away who was behind it. I am so glad that at the last minute I changed my mind and made a video on you. The pull was so strong, I just had to. I am not amazed to hear the words in this video from you but I am amazed to hear them from someone at your age. One more example that in the matters of the soul, age does not mean much. The first close deaths in life hit hardest. They never exactly get easier, but you begin to understand them more. It's important to remember we don't grieve for the dead, but for the living. The dead are at peace, and their work on this earth is over; we grieve because we must continue without them. It's also important to remember that the deceased would not want to see us inconsolable for their passing, but instead joyous for the moments we had with them in our lives. This takes time to really understand and process, but I find it is often true. There will, inevitably, be closer deaths in your life, as in all our lives. With them will come greater challenge to see this same silver lining in an otherwise darkened sky. No matter your beliefs, the dead are at rest, and will no longer know the struggles of this world. As you age, this will be something of a double edge; you will constantly see the world with new insight, and you may be sad for what those that have passed did not get to experience, though you may also feel relieved they did not have to experience some of the hurdles as well. In the end, they live on in the ways they've changed your life, and in how you now change those around you. Push through, and the days will be easier in time.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Maya. You and your family are in my thoughts. I agree with you that there are no coincidences and that you were somehow guided to work on the "Wings" songs by Tool. I have heard many Tool fans say that Maynard's lyrics have helped them through all sorts of challenging times (grief, addiction, trauma, etc.) and my hope for you is that by learning the songs, the music and lyrics will help you through this time and continue to provide comfort to you. You are very talented and a sweet soul, and I look forward to seeing more videos from you in the future but for right now, be with your family and process your grief. Take care.

I just wanted to pass along my respects. Going through this is not easy. You are only 10, and should not have to do grown up stuff. You do not come across as someone as young as you are. Being mature is both, good and bad. Great to be that smart at a young age, no so great when you just can't be a 10 year old, enjoying life and playing great, guitar. Not everyone is wired to live with the future in mind -- a lot of people have difficulty doing so and many are stuck in the past. If you are future focused in this way, you might be gifted with a strong sense of what Carl Jung called Introverted Intuition, especially if you find universal meanings in things easily. However, if you are learning early in your life to also appreciate the present, this is very mature indeed.
