body check vs hit : A body check is a legal hit that separates the puck carrier from the puck. A hit counts illegal hits too and hits that don't result in separating the player from the puck.
@morcyclemark3 күн бұрын
Better way to read those stats: Truba has 22 hits, of which, 10 were successful body checks. A 45% success rate.

@@theloudcollector Knowing his success rate on body checks informs his defensive center that he has a good chance to get the puck when Truba makes a hit. So you'll often see the defensive center rushing towards the area before the hit lands in hopes of scooping up a puck. Trouba's defensive partner then has to cover the other team's center and winger. Normally, this is a bad recipe, but the Rangers have the best goalie in the league to save them from this strategy.

@@morcyclemark I was going to say 10 hits is peanuts, so thx for the info. Remember the 90s? Stevens seemed to be nailing a guy 2-3 times a game!

All jokes aside, Moose is the best. I break with her almost every night. She really takes care of her customers and we all have a blast joking around in there. The SCORPION repacks that Moose makes are by far the best repacks in the game. She really knows her stuff and picks some amazing cards for her Randoms. They are the best value you can get in a break. Definitely check her out and support the hobby. Stoked to see her featured on this podcast!

Great episode guys! I applaud Moose for stating some uncomfortable truths about the hobby and then some of pitfalls of breaking become too much like gambling and flipping. She had some real insightful takes. Its all about balance and we are out if whack going the same direction as the other major sports (which isnt good). When we have 3 breakers opening more tins of the cup than 150 smaller LCS combined its out of balance. The strictly gamblers who rush in and pay $2000 per break for Bedard FWA spot is not good for the hobby. Phil ask out of the box guys what they think about Breezy and GPS breaking 220 cases of the cup. My entire province had like 8 cases. Again its about balance. Nothing against breakers but LCS and collectors are the heart and soul of this hobby. And they are hurting this year. Small LCS are sitting on tons of SPX and Credentials. You guys need to find a long time LCS owner on as a guest sometime. My lcs owner is so open and honest (discloses his costs of the cup were $850 CAD. I think the vast majority of your viewers, who are collectors, would appreciate that insight from long term lcs owner. It would be super interesting.

Great thoughts and appreciate your chiming in. Getting a recurring segment with an LCS owner is a great idea and we'll work on that.

Can't wait for the Devils Rushmore. I think Brodeur and Jack Hughes are locks, but the final two spots get tricky. Obviously Niedermayer, Stevens, and Elias have contributed so much on the ice, but is their hobby market sizable enough to get them there? Has Hischier done enough on the ice so far even though he does have a decent hobby following? Bratt's also 3 points away from tying for 11th all time in points for the devils, so he should be in the conversation. Also, would you rather a sticker auto or those paper insert autos you see in some SPX cards?

I will say this, if bedard was performing as expected the tax would be fine. But he's just a normal hockey player. Can't stand the hype tax. Plus idc about bedard. I also think Premier is better than the Cup this year.

Hey guys, I gotta ask - you like to throw shade at Mitch Marner but I'd love to hear your rationale for snubbing him every week on the who's hot list. He's only tied for 5th in overall points and 18 points in his last 10 games. And in his past 19 games he has been held pointless only twice.

Couple of quick suggestions (speaking out of turn again). Maybe put the new product review earlier in the vid, as it's def a draw, as true hobbyists are starved for new release intel. Also, you prob know that I know how much work it is to analyze a new set. It can be hell. I get not going through the entire checklist. But, perhaps you can key in on what makes the individual sets unique, and often popular to their particular target market. Note that on Netflix, all content finds its viewers, so debasing a show that disinterests you has no intrinsic benefit. It simply is not for you. Artifacts is in fact a flagship type set, and has been since inception. The reason being: it highlights a variety of true hobby *relics* and generally delivers at least a "soft" hit or numbered card every single pack. Artifacts hobby has always afforded decent value (diametric opposite for retail). Believe it or not, Artifacts is in fact known for both its ticket cards and arena boards, and has been for a few years now. Thus the word "artifact." Great catch on the Hutson card. But, I'm not sure how much value is added by subjectively observing you like or dislike the cards, without true expertise in design or grounded critical analysis tied to the specific price tranche. Note that the base design (stickers, relic windows, etc) has been a mainstay since Crosby's rookie year, rooted in an "industrial age" aesthetic. That is the inherent nature/core of the product, consistently for 20 years. And an example of a true insight about the product, if you are now sharpening your new product reviews, is the set this year includes tickets from the Kansas City Scouts and Cleveland Barons. Even seasoned collectors have difficulty finding relic cards or even tracing the history of these long lost franchises. For example, this has group break implications if targeting such cards. In any event, great review. I say all this as a consumer of your vids, and a co-content provider.
