Glad for the "reset" at home! Yep, can't imagine that Aussie accent helps Tom at Trestles! Southern accent didn't do me much good either, on my only trip there in the mid seventies. I haven't traveled that much but it was one of the most hostile local scenes I've ever seen! Sebastian Inlet in Florida might have been worse, partly because in those days, before they messed up the jetty, everyone took off from pretty much the same place. Pretty gnarly! I was there with Yancy Spencer (RIP) and I think that's the only thing that saved me! 😂You could surf all up the beach, but nothing matched that reflective screaming right off of the jetty/seawall. Glad y'all are home for a while! Rest up and get ready for the second half!

I didn't mention it yet - but yes, I too was quite glad to see that you made the cut. I was really hoping to see you take one or both of those contests - but let's face it, the competition was fierce. And the waves at Winki were lackluster. You've got impressive surfers in the older generation - and a crop of amazing younger surfers to compete against, as well. Though at the end of the day, so much of the competition is mental. Watching that last heat against Carissa, was tough. You had it locked up, and you had priority, with the clock winding down. I'd say that even if you couldn't make that section from where you were - you needed to go - over the falls even, to keep Carissa off that one. I think if you do that, you wind up advancing out of that heat, and closer to the finals. It was a tough break. Carissa is no joke. If you have the lead, and priority - you've gotta do whatever you have to, to seal that deal particularly against her. The good news, is that if you can find your way into a berth at Trestles - you look like you're surfing it, quite well. Even Thomas is flairing up out there. I'm not sure if the E-bike is helping the cause. I'd say that you go with a Mountain bike, and build your leg strength, climbing on the ride out. For several years I was riding a Mountain Bike to surf all over LA, from Leo to PV. It built my power up, pretty well.
