Loved these 2 videos, makes me regret ruining my life. My dream was to work as a mechanic in motorsport, did 3 years at college, loads of work experience, then got a full time job working on Porsche Cup Cars, BMWs in Britcar, threw it all away because of immaturity. Would love to get back into it but ive been out for 10 years. Wish i could find a job within motorsport. These videos were great.

Being following Nielsen Racing for quite some time but great to see this behind the scenes insight. Got to admit that Sports car racing, even though I follow F1, has a far more fan friendly feeling to it. One day hopefully I can get to a race where Nielsen cars are running maybe 2024 Asian Le Mans series.

In Sweden there are schools financed by the state that is mechanic schools with racing orientation (one of them being at Ring Knutstorp, where I go right now.). You start the school between 15-18 years old and the education is 3 years long. Through the education you are able to get great internships mainly in Sweden but in some cases out in Europe. I know from colleagues in my team that If you live in Spain or Italy you can pay for an mechanic education with racing orientation. You can start these type of educations at any age (I think) and I think the education is around 3 years long. During your education you can be apart of a racing team during your internship. The teams can be a low class racing team for example Clio cup or Ginetta GT5 all the way to GT3 or F4 teams out in Europe depending on how you perform and your dedication. What I personally think is the thing you gain the most from in the education in Sweden is the contacts. Because if you push and are dedicated you can get in contact and internships with great teams you never would have a connection to otherwise. Also what you learn in school is not really how it works out on the track or in the workshop. During your internship you learn the most valuable and important skills to become a better mechanic and what you learn in school gives you basic knowledge of how a car works and some mechanical skills although many things are outdated:/ Hope this helps, unfortunately I don’t know where you guys are located otherwise I hope it can help someone else😁

I never realized how good those orecas look up close, almost putting my #41 WRT Oreca diecast to shame 😅. Those flyby's also bring back memories of my visit at Spa for ELMS back in 2021 where only recently i learned the LMP3 car i got a close up from post-race was a Nielsen car 🤣. Deffinatly hoping to repeat it! PS. Nielsen racing are an absolute vibe online. Great to see that energy also going around in the garage!

Are the wheel guns magnetic? Is that how the wheel nut stays in the socket?
@TheMotorsportMechanic Жыл бұрын
Yes they are, have a look at my most recent video it will explain all 👍
@backtothegrid3531 Жыл бұрын
so what stops the wheel nuts from cross-threading when you do them back up?
@TheMotorsportMechanic Жыл бұрын
I can do a video explaining the features of the wheel nuts and stub axle to stop them cross threading if you like.
