People don’t understand why I love this game so much. It’s THIS this is why. The story telling. Sure the premise is simple, survive- but the way things play out feels vastly different every time. Like a nature documentary playing out in real time. I think if they pumped out content and updates faster this genuinely could go down as a classic.

When i first started playing i wouldve agreed with you, but the more you play the more you realize every run is kind of the same. You spend several hours micromanaging your diet, food, and water, then you get killed by a Meta dinosaur. If youre a carnivore you die of starvation, a croc, or a dibble. If youre an herbivore im sorry you punish yourself like this, but you die to anything, or youre a Meta dino and only die to croc or another herbivore. The game lacks any "balance" and has simultaneously the most tedious and boring gameplay loop that takes way too long to be worth it. All of its difficulty feels artificial and unearned, as in this game its almost never down to a 'skill issue', just a balance or luck issue.

@jc_art_ It's what you make of it. The community around this game has developed a serious case of complaint culture. People need to move on and find something else or come back when it's up to THEIR standard, instead of watching videos about the game they find so unbalanced and posting comment sections full about how bad the game is.

It was also at the same time in which the server I played in, new beginnings, was shut down. Eventually they made a new server called new dawn but i was out of the game by that time

Between the alpha (V1) Beta (V2) and current state of the game, I've got just over 12,000 hours logged, i was here when it was a sandbox, through the progression system, and of course playable hypo dinos. Up until here now in Gateway/Evrima, its been fun and i still have a blast every time I play

The pinnacle of my TI gameplay was when I was a part of a group of 8 Ceras vs 5 Stegos back on the old map. The Stegos had been broadcasting constantly and more and more Ceras kept showing up, and soon enough we had an all-out war that felt like it went on for an hour. Ended up a phyrric victory for the stegos, as they had one sole survivor while the Ceras got wiped out. It was a fitting end for a long lived Cera.

Pro tip: 2nd mutation slot always take gastronomic regeneration, it is literally eat to heal, and is very powerful even after the nerf, especially for big carnivores, has saved my life countless times

The Isle is fun when you watch someone play it on KZbin. Because you have the luxury of condensing all that time invested. Not to mention you need a really decent PC to run this game, well only if you don't want to watch visual glitches for an hour. But there is fun to be had. I have a decent PC and get 120 frames on high settings with almost every game I play. Except for the isle! I'm lucky to get 40 frames consistently on low settings and that visual experience over any length of time is sure to bring a headache in my experience. It needs some serious optimization.

Usually for carnivores I would suggest Gastronomic Regeneration for the second mutation since its useful after a big battle with something, especially since you were a cera and it needs to hunt and eat quite often. If you didn't already know Gastronomic Regeneration lets you heal by eating. Anyways great video man, keep up the good work!!

Amazing video, entertaining as always at this point. Something I would like to see in the future maybe, would be for new players like me who rarely play and rather watch. A quick run down at the beginning or in the middle of the video, of what the dino you are playing this time has to offer and what its specialties are :) helps understanding more. Tree top assassines is self explanatory or at least after watching your video, but this one was a bit tricky to understand. Only in the stego fight I was able to somewhat understand what it does

i got into the game because of your videos, back in september/october i binged all of your The isle video, actually starting the the BoB big snake one's funnily enough. Have about 100+ hours on it now, exclusively on Petits Pieds, being from France and all. Game can be frustrating from a lot of things (bugs, AI not showing up, nesting broken etc etc) but when you manage a decent one, it is so rewarding. i've had many adventures, some i wish i had your talents to recount them!

If you are going a combat build the next time you play the cerato. I recommend photosynthetic tissue for your first, gastro regen for your second and either the extra damage to a bleeding target (hemomania) or the mutation that lets you deal more damage depending how low your stomach contents are (the name I do not recall at the making of this comment).

I think I'll pick up the Isle when it goes on sale next. I have to be careful when picking survival games, because I generally hate playing them; they're just not games I have fun with. But I think that I will so I keep buying them. The Isle cuts out EVERYTHING that isn't core to surviving. Because that's what life as an animal is all about. I never thought the game that captures the essence of a nature documentary would be the one a work colleague would go on and on about years ago. I never looked into it too much as it was still in the alpha stages of development, and I've also played my share of undercooked games. When I finally watched a video of Metta playing, it really surprised me who dedicated the game was to making surviving seem fun and meaningful. Sounds like we might even run into each other as I'm an Aussie, so maybe hello in the future
