I'm a Honduran Spaniard, and I love that my people conquered América. I say this to piss of liberal extremists. :-) Put your tears in my jar. Spain liberated América from cannibalism and human sacrifice. Spain committed no genocide, as proven by most Spanish speakers being Native Americans. Most Hispanics can't even grow a beard which shows how non-Spanish they are. I plan to learn Quechua, Pukina, Lakota, Mayan, Náhuatl and more. I love beautiful Native American civilizations. God did so much awesome stuff with ihs predetermined race and their glory.

It makes me depressed thinking about the conditions which Native Americans are still subjected to. Native American history after Columbus is absolutely tragic, and too many people don’t see the extent of it. For example, the Taíno peoples developed mass suicidal tendencies (e.g. mothers performing infanticide, men jumping off of cliffs, etc.) after endless mistreatment from the Spanish. Today, natives are still suffering from high rates of drug abuse, alcoholism, obesity, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. If you blame the natives themselves for these issues, you are highly ignorant. Who subjected them to slavery and destitution? Who forced them out of their homelands? There’s so much to native history that people aren’t aware of: the suffering, but also the sophistication of the cultures. It makes me very happy seeing these young natives reconnecting with their cultures-although truthfully, they should never have been separated from them in the first place.

I've no doubt about that. In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners indigenous Native Americans. Remember, notorious global cardinal crimes like Slavery and Colonialism had long been over, why on is this notorious Colonization still lingering on earth? blog.chinadaily.com.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=820652

Gio Corvino To your first reply: Native Americans definitely aren’t a monolith, nor do all of them get along. But that doesn’t excuse the indiscriminate trauma and genocide brought upon Natives by colonizers, the effects of which are still seen today. It’s not Westerners’ faults that they happened to be the ones with superior weaponry, but with power comes responsibility. This responsibility wasn’t exercised. The effects of Western colonization on Native Americans and pre-Columbus Native American wars are incomparable. Years after the wars and genocides, Native lands are still being encroached upon. Their reservations have shrunk drastically in the name of Western interests. There are still Natives today who remember being taken away from their parents and sent to Western schools and families in a purposeful and legislation-backed effort to erase their heritage. While it’s not necessarily modern white Americans who committed genocide, they are still enjoying the fruits of their ancestors’ unjust victories. Native Americans certainly deserve compensation for what has and still is happening to them.
@jjpepper70714 жыл бұрын
r0nni3_w YT Super late reply but please don’t blame yourself or feel ashamed! I didn’t mean to insinuate that it was the Natives’ faults for how they became. That sort of negative effect isn’t something that manifests in people by their own choice. I’m not Native myself, so I might be overstepping with this explanation, but this is just what I’ve researched; their trauma was brought on by the effects of Western colonization-foreign diseases, wars, enslavement, etc. It’s not their fault that this happened, so please don’t feel sorry. Thank you to you and your ancestors for being persevering, because it’s a blessing that Native American cultures and peoples still exist today.

We have lost our words and learned the words of others. Words are important as they literally shape one’s thought. One word takes this shape while another word takes that shape. With that in mind, know that Indian is a false title for Native People, just as is “indi-genous” as that literally means “Indi” blood (genous)… as is “Native American” because while we are Native to these lands “America” is a word bestowed by those not native to the land, and in fact comes from an Italian man named Amerigo Vespucci … As such, these names and words put on us, like shackles, not only force us to lose sight of our own identity (as with other ways too) but also shape us to be viewed a certain way by others. In my opinion, these false titles/words cause others to perceive of us as what we are not: Savages, Indian/Indigenous, Ab-Original (literally “away from” original; ie not original), American, etc… We are First People, we came to these lands so many seek and have sought, FIRST… We are First People. But others don’t want to think that way - hence the false and historic descriptions/titles… But look how fun it is to live out of your van these days, to ride horses, and live with less… the hippie vibe is growing and people are buying, but that was our culture that was sold as savage, and now it is in high demand, with expensive tags ironically…. Look in the mirror. Or you will never see the stars.

I'm from a small town in West Yorkshire; Many many moons ago in probably 1999 I remember a strange tanned man entering our classroom, he showed us things that were beautifully carved and he talked about his life "back home" where he came from. He looked like a man that had lost everything now I recall the memory each thought he had left him with a little sadness. He wasn't like us, the way he moved or talked I remember him taking questions....The way he pondered on his replies I could tell he missed home. He was a native Indian that settled on a council estate, he lived 1 street up from me tucked away in a corner where he used a tree stump as a table for his family, 4 boys if I remember correctly sometimes if it was a hot day he would get the most beautiful teepee out and set it up. I wish I had spoke more to this man and his family! I wonder how they ended up living on an extremely shabby council estate with a rep like the worst of them in the middle of England.

I believe that as I like many other non-indigenous people Love and Admire Native Americans. We want to help we just don't know how. I am French from Louisiana, My Dear Grandmother was beaten in school for speaking French which was her native language. This caused many to quit and hide in the swamp lands so they would not be taken by the government. So many non-English peoples have suffered in the same ways. At the hands of the Catholic church and the U.S. Gov. Everyone seems to feel that they are the only ones yet there are so many of us. We have lost our French Language. We never lost our love of life and ability to laugh. Many of us still live off the land and they're taking that away bit by bit with hunting and fishing regulations. What can we do?

I mean Native Americans committed genocide against each other constantly since the time Europeans arrived. No one cared when the Shawnee literally butchered and wiped out an entire river tribe. Why does it matter who's doing the genocide?
@CurrencyChronicles1 Жыл бұрын
@@ruskyalmond1977tribal warfare existed everywhere, no matter what country or continent, but what the Europeans did was truly disgusting, they went from killing them like they were dogs, to forcing them onto reservations, starving them and then going to massacre them even when they surrendered a white flag of peace like in Wounded Knee. The Shawnee killing out a tribe is a lot less than Europeans trying to kill out all the tribes

Beautiful. My parents are from Central America and I was born and raised here in the United States. I have the highest respect for Native American culture and I want to keep learning about your culture. I teach adults English so during the month of November, we are learning about Native Americans and their history. Last year we watched Smoke Signals in class, discussed it and made sentences in English about the different characters. This year we are watching Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and will discuss in English as well. I have attended a few pow wows and they were beautiful. I am working on teaching my children Spanish because it is easy for Latinos who are born in the country to lose it just like I see here that the youth in Native American communities also have to put effort into learning and keeping the languages alive. I wish I could help in some way, knowing that natives on the reservations suffer from depression, alcoholism, domestic abuse, etc. I guess the best way I can help is to simply keep learning about everyone's different cultures and help be a voice for the injustices that happen all around the word. Great video. I love it. Thank you.

To my people, every inch of land is sacred, every iridescent pine needle, every sandy shore, every dewdrop glitters in the dense forests, every wasteland and the whisper of insects are sacred things. sacred in the memory and experience of my compatriots. The sap flowing in the trees also carries the memory of the Indians. When white people die, they often roam among the stars and forget the country they were born in. As for us, we cannot forget this beautiful land. Because this land is the mother of the Indians. We are part of the mother and she is also a part of us. The fragrant flowers are our sisters and brothers. The cliffs, the puddles in the meadow, the warmth of the pony and the human, all belong to the same family.
